Project make my car not look like crap

So the snows melting and its getting a little nicer around here so I've decided to start cleaning up the buick. My project consists of complete upholstery cleaning to get all that winter garbage out, cleaning up the engine bay, obviously shining up the outside and fixing any paint issues and detailing the dust and dirt out of everything inside.

I started it today and took a couple before pics, they arent so good but they'll do.

Driver side carpet, even though I have rubber floor mats the carpet still got wet and froze and thawed all winter, its so gross I had a fan on it for a few hours while I did other things today this is before that.

While vacuuming I found that the rear seat passenger side was soaked where it went up against the car

After looking around I found this hole under my wheel well, this hole leads up into the trunk where the water then flowed down into the car where it made the seat wet..

I dropped everything I was doing went 20 miles to walmart and got some expandable foam and sprayed it in the trunk where the hole was and in the wheel well, once that hardens I will put some sealant inside the trunk to further prevent water from getting in, It seems near impossible to get my rear seat out to clean up any other water damage, any help on how to do that is appreciated.

My other plan was to get my amp off the box and to the side like I talked about in my amp thread, I bought some new sub wires and some extra ground and battery wire to extend what I already have and it worked real nicely.

I'll put some after pics up if I get the rest taken care of tomorrow hopefully its not too cold, only reason I stopped tonight was because I was freezing my ass off

A water leak there is common. I suggest a plastic bag and the foam you used. You can also use something like rino bed liner to seal it.

my brother may or may not still have some undercoating left from when he did his truck, i could throw some of that up in the wheel well after sanding down the foam.

You tend to see this more on the passenger side. There's more sand and gravel on that side of the road and that strips the coating more on that side of the car.

that makes sense, my left side is perfectly fine, right side is all tore up.. BUT my left rocker panel is destroyed and the right isnt nearly as bad... crazy.

Danthurs 02-19-2011 10:53 PM

I would say the left side tends to get on coming traffic, things get thrown at the car on that side.

true, i really dont like michigan weather, its literally eating my poor car :(

Danthurs 02-19-2011 11:41 PM

Tell me about it. Wisconsin isn't much better. That's why I park my car for the winter.

Buick96 02-19-2011 11:48 PM

I would If I had a truck, If I get hired in at this job im going to save up for one and either part out my car and get a new one or just park it for the winters.
