Yet another mini meet with 1337ssei
1337ssei had a bad power antenna, and I figured I could manhandle it into the correct position. As a result, I owed him my power antenna. So, Here'* a picture of both of our cars parked side to side. The closer car is mine, and you can tell because the trunk looks like someone was left to die in it but then escaped by beating his way out of the car...
Oh, no! My car has been abandoned for so long that crack junkies settled in!
This is 1337ssei'* car with a false floor holding down the amp and the inside of the rear quarter panel after the removal of the power antenna.
Here is a comparison shot of both antennas. The one inside my trunk is my antenna, now 1337ssei'*.
Finished! It works!
There'* a relay on the antenna that takes two plugs and then one jack-type plug that takes the antenna wire. The newer relay was transferred over, and that'* about it.
Rear-left is my 99 SLE. Rear-right is my 01 Alero. In front of the SLE is my 94 SSEi, and in front of the Alero is 1337ssei'* 97 SSEi.
I did not like the power antenna because it made a lot of noise. One day when I saw Riding'* aftermarket power antenna and heard how quietly it worked as it more quickly came in and out, I decided I'd soon get rid of mine. So, accidentally tearing out the base from 1337ssei'* antenna came as sort of a blessing. I'm also considering putting an antenna elsewhere...
Now, the rubber surrounding thing at the antenna hole joins my interior in that it'* missing something. Much like my 2007 vehicle teardown but this time even more in depth, I'll have some major work whorage to post soon. Today was the first warm day this year. I was in short sleeves even at 9:30 PM!

Well, 1337ssei'* car now has a fully functional antenna that goes all the way up and all the way down. I'll probably get one that either stays up or a $20 power antenna from some auto place. The SLE'* antenna goes all the way up but only goes down just under half way, as you can see from the last picture.
