I can't find any information on GM code P0455 either. It may be a generic code, but doesn't necessarily correlate with GM'*. Large leak code is P0440, and small leak is P0442.

I think all P codes are generic.. P0455 is for a large leak in the EVAP system. Generically, it'* the "Gas Cap" code 9 times of 10, but the gas cap switch did not net any results... light kept coming on.

Car still at the dealer, having them check out a couple rattles and analyze fluids while I'm at it. Will let you know what (if anything) they find.

They are generic to the degree that they are used. The check gas cap warning will most times set the p0440 code. As GM doesn't use the code you provided, they use another code, in this case the P0440 to do the same thing. It'* at best a 50/50 chance that the gas cap will be the problem. More often than not, it'* something else (lines, solenoids, connections) that are the problem.

This is a thread on a different forum that touches on the codes uses.

dealer got it fixed. had to smoke test it, but it was a valve vent... couldn't get it figured out at first, but all better now (the engine light hasn't returned, so i assume that means we're good to go). warranty covered it.

took my first nail in the new tires (new from the dealer 500 miles ago) tonight.

love the car, just havin' some bad luck.

and if anyone mentions the white curse...
