Default Frankenbonne: We got Video! (56 DOA)

Stardate 7/30 or 31
Let me start by mentioning, Randy and I were planning on getting Franken started and running yesterday. ToastedOats and Gumball (Aaron and Jim) decided to take a dry run to see where the house was and help with Frank. With that in mind I grabbed some burgers and coleslaw..and of course beer. We started on trying to get it to crank over and Randy found that the engine harness connector to the firewall was upside down. No fuses blew...no problems but the car just wouldn't start. I'm typing this long at the beginning because it'* going to take a moment for the pics to load. Did I mention my PB account overflowed after 3 pics, new account opened and 54 pics later.

We were prepping for a trip to Randy'* Bonneville storage facility and attempting to help the IL Bfest guys get OlBlueEyes car running. I tried to help earlier..but didn't have much experience with their problem. So I put the manuals out and Randy dove in

On an odd note, the car and Frank were both having the same basic symptoms. Except Marty'* ignition switch didn't work. A new member, 1fatcat swooped in with tons of experience and mentioned that they both sounded VATS related, then provided great troubleshooting tips which in the end started both cars! <~~1fatcat Thanks man
We needed a fuel tank and minor other stuff to start up.

Aaron takes some 15 year old rust to the eye

While the work is happening...I run to snap pics of our 6 car unexpected meet. (Taking pics is hard work)

We are having trouble and decide to take a moment out to hit the ghetto for a vacuum canister which BTW is probably the only part still on the 97 donor car. Taking two cars we see where the "older" guys belong

In the rearview :P
Aaron checks out the sunroof angle

And we egg the guys on a little to pull up...but as you can see they are still lagging

The younger guys leading the pack spot this on the road

We made it into the ghetto and the donor car lot w/o getting mugged or shot at...always a good thing

Grab the part and off we go...back to the house. Here is the vacuum canister

OMG I was working? 64,32...25 HIKE! Looks like a football

Mid day we apparently attracted some attention, this SE owner stopped and wanted to know if we wanted to buy his car.

Now where does the vacuum canister go...hmmm Aaron and I get along great as this looks good

And some general pics...

The Supervisor

Our diligent VATS worker

Jim...wanna do some work?

We decide to see if we can close the trunk with Randy in there. He'* riveting in the fuel pump relay harness. (How many bodies fit in there?)

Whorage

Jim is really taking my job of staying clean

Taking a break while Randy kept working.. we goof off a little more. And this looks a lot like the CAI Jimmyfloyd claimed at the last meeting

The day is starting to wind down and we get the car started, running and idling all on it'* own once we ground the VATS system (amazing how well things work when they are connected)

Odd...I don't remember having 4 cars in the driveway... who could this be?

It'* Highlander and wife for a surprise visit. Boy were they surprised! 7 Bonnevilles now at the house and a running Frankenbonne

AJ just happened to have some silver star turn signal bulbs to put into his car.. What better time?

They look great because they are silver in color but light amber. No more amber in there...and no pic either. Ooops
I was just kidding about Jim not working, here he is pulling out the jack from Frank

Franks back tires are back on the ground

And front

It must be time for something, AJ is running away.

What are these guys waiting for?

If Randy had a dash..I bet the DIC would be colorful, the car is backing out on it'* own power.

Can you say proud? This is a project coming together smile if I ever saw one.

We flushed the cooling system super well and put it away for the night.
On to the food, and BC of course

Jim two fisting

Whazzzzup

Jim and Aaron decide to check out the accomodations and spend the night in the living room. This is the morning after pic

We had to hit the store a few times yesterday and here'* a little of the aftermath

This is only some of the cans and bottles....lol
To conclude the car is running and driving. This is such a high for the whole crew since we've spent so much time on it. It'* been an interesting project and now the tedious little things need to get done and off to get some paint. By the NEBF the car will most likely be on the road and ready for rides.

And let'* just say the sound of a 3800 w/o exhaust is SWEEET, we had our own BADSSEI sound. Later we did put the down pipe and cat on it.
