My dad's latest purchase

A few weeks ago, he wanted (and purchased) a secondary car, to kind of preserve the Camaro when he gets that all wrapped up. He originally wanted another Pontiac G8 GT, but settled for an '07 Grand Prix GXP for the price. He had an '04 Grand Prix (similar, if not the same, color as this, in fact) with the turbo V6, and enjoyed it. The only thing he has done to the car himself was a tune.

Nice looking car! I've been looking into one of these.

What year is it?

2007. It definitely is nice, and quite fun.

Nice! I'd love to get into something with the LS4. Just wish GM would have used the beefier 4T80 transmission instead of the 4T65-HD.

IDK, the last thing he needs is ideas. He said if he had the money, he'd have bought a 427 for the Camaro, and put the LS3 in the Grand Prix.

He took a look under the Grand Prix the other day, and decided to replace the exhaust with a stainless steel Magnaflow cat-back system. My dad had a van years ago, and remembers replacing the exhaust every few years, and doesn't really want to do that again. He also decided to order a K&N CAI for the car while he was at it.

My step dad was a car salesmen and got to demo one of these cars when they first were released, I remember the unique positioning of the vents. Thats an awesome car.

The stuff he ordered came in Thursday. Here's the CAI installed, and the exhaust system. He's taking the GP to the muffler shop that he's been taking the Camaro to and have them install the Magnaflow kit Wednesday morning. Well, he'll drop it off Tuesday night and they'll do the work Wednesday moning.

There's really nothing noteworthy about the exhaust, a tad bit louder than the factory exhaust (which was pretty loud for a stock system, especially considering my dad's G8 wasn't even that loud stock) and it sticks out a little so you can see the "Magnaflow Performance" scripture.

The latest project concerns a new stereo system and rear view camera install. The stereo is a Kenwood DNX9990HD (same thing he put in the Camaro) and the camera is the Kenwood CMOS 210. The camera is installed, he just needs to run the rest of the wiring through the car and install to the stereo. The stereo itself needs a couple more wires spliced, and put in. My dad already found a good spot to hide his iPod. He cut a hole at the bottom of the cubby hole below the stereo and HVAC controls, and is keeping the rubber piece over the iPod. His original plan was to run the iPod cable to the center console storage box like he did with the Camaro. The center console was harder to pull apart than the Camaro's (and it was required on the Camaro to install the stereo anyways). He was also going to try and see if the factory GPS antenna will work with the new stereo.
