I finally got the chance to whore it up!

Well here she is, in all her glory. My 1987 LE. Not bad for free huh? Please feel free to dish out any comments you may (and i'm sure will) have. If you start to wonder the badges are missing because i'm in the process of painting them. More pics when i'm done.

The car has great potential. I'd say the first things you should do are.

Tune Up
Straighten the body up a bit
Rims (hubcaps if your on a budget)

Once thats done I wanna see pics of it again :D

Tune up: Check (except O2 sensor, it's in the mail)
Body work: In process
Rims: See above^^

I love it.

If you get bored and have the time, Get the rear tires turned around on the rims, It'll look better.

Brings back memories of my LE minus the 50mph T-Bone incident.

Nothing likse a first car to work with. She's got alot of potential. It's up to you to bring out the inner beauty!!!!!!!!!

Ya i love the cluster. Lol. I am going to turn the tires around when i get the new fronts, and i'm getting them all balanced. I just put new pads and rotors on it today, and investigated a scraping noise in the rear (broken adjuster spring in the passenger drum) and my sagging in the rear (BOTH springs= shot). *Sigh* it's coming along though.... I just got my O2 sensor in the mail though! Yes i know the interior is nice now, but that's almost 2 days of straight cleaning. He spilled coffee multiple times on the passenger floor, and he had doge in the back all the time. Covered in hair. All the windows were like coated with film, it hadn't been washed in probably a year or more. It didn't have a radio either. Of course i fixed all that AFTER rebuilding the tranny that he fried. Oh and the tires had the belts showing through and the oil was a quart and a half low and completely black.

Looks like my first car, but a year older and with red interior and no rims :) Make her purr!

opensourceguy 05-21-2005 04:46 PM

Not too bad my friend.. body is in great shape, but I noticed a little dent [or maybe it's tape?] on the front Passenger's fender. A little rust, but nothing bad for a car it's age.

That interior really shocked me! Definitely red!

I will also x2 on Straitor's suggestion. The wheels do look weird with that white stripe on just the rear tires.

Also some Engine Degreaser + some water will really clean up that engine. Trust me, it works wonders ;).

Ya i know the engine is terrible. Yes justin, it is a dent in the fender. The lense is cracked too. Like i said the guy wasn't exactly easy on it. I'm suprised no one has commented on my grille yet. Oh and by the way also, if you are wondering why the rear is squatting, i just found out today while doing my rear brakes that both rear springs are broken. So that's that.

Custom88 05-21-2005 10:25 PM

not bad for the age. I do have one stupid question though. What's with the odd wear pattern on the steering wheel?

alec_b 05-22-2005 12:08 AM

Ha i knew someone would notice that. You know those old granny steering wheel covers? Those perforated ones that tie onto the wheel. Ya well i hated it so i took it off. Apparently years of being covered up makes the wheel turn black. That's what it is.

ComfyCar 05-22-2005 01:47 PM

If you get a new paint job and maybe some rims that would be a sweet.

I always love seeing older cars with shiny paint.

Me too! Especially when it is your car.

I'm working on the paint. Believe me it needs it. The pics are actually making it look MUCH better that it does in person. There are literally thousands of scratches on it, rust on the rockers (which u may be able to see) and on the trunk. Luckily it's all surface. So i can fix it.
