Default Cam Install Pics (56K Absolute no no)

Here are the pics from the cam install. The first few shots are the underside of the supercharger where we plugged the coolant holes to stop coolant warming the TB and SC.

Cool! That M90 footprint is totally different than the M62. I haven't seen the underside of one until now. Our balance shafts are slightly different, too, and how'd the cam come in? Through the wheelwell?

Yea, we lowered the engine cradle on the passenger side and left the driver side loose but attached. Lowered it enought to slide it out through the wheel well. I actually disingaged the balance shaft for less rotating mass. I wish I hadnt now. There is a distinct vibration at 1500 rpm that we are attributing to it not functioning. Next time i'm in that deep i will hook it back up.

Very cool Rogue. I guess that like the GPs you must lower the subframe on the passenger side in order to get the cam in and out, is that right?

So you now have the Intense S1X cam with 105# springs and Intense Gen 3 adjustable rockers and lightweight pushrods...very nice setup for some cam shafting and valve training

Did you, or have you already done, any mods to the blower? You're running a 3.25" pulley?

Thanks for sharing all the info and pics with us!!!!!

Cheers,

,
No blower mods yet other than the coolant hole plugs. I am running a 3.2 pully currently but still have some KR in the upper rpm range. I think its a fueling issue as my 02s are pretty lean (high 800s). I am thinking about the N* Throttle Body but I need an LSD first.

Thanks for the great series of pics Rogue.
I take it the balancer delete was Jeff'* idea? What would the gains be?
Although not easy could you have removed the wheel well on the passenger side to remove/install the cam.....for those who do not have a lift?

We didnt use a lift. Just had it up on stands. We disconnected the ball joint and upper control arm and just lowered the cradle using a jack. Yes the delete was Jeff'* idea, not sure what the gains are supposed to be, but if it was 5 hp or less id rather not have the vibration to be honest. To late now and i'll deal with it later.

BTW: Did you notice how clean that lifter valley is? This is a VERY clean engine. Well maintained. I know I have taken care of it, wasnt sure what the previous owners had done so i'm thankful that I got a chance to see the inside.
