How to change the turn signal flasher
5 Attachment(s)
My turn signals went out last week, so I replaced the flasher with a $4 thing from Auto Zone. The signals went out again just on Saturday, so I bought a $7 flasher this time. Your mileage may vary.
Location/Tools The turn signal flasher is inside the driver's side kick panel. To get to it, you just need to take out two wingnuts and three screw/bolt hybrids. The wingnuts can be painstakingly taken out by hand, and the screw/bolt hybrids I prefer to remove with a 7mm socket. These are all the tools you will need except maybe a flathead screwdriver to detach the old flasher. Procedure Move the driver's seat all the way down and back, and then recline it. If you recline too soon, you will end up rubbing some seat surfaces together. People with manual seats should use a friend who can push the seat forward and backward. When you're cozily upside down in the seat, move it forward so your head is snugly under the dash. Then, remove the two wingnuts and screw/bolt hybrids. The three screws/bolts are in line and right up against the interior-colored dash. There's one in the general middle, and there are two at the extremes. Drop the panel, and do the swap. Thanks for the write up. I'll go over it and get it in to tech info.
