Homelink

Those of us with garage door openers wish we had something better than that clunky thing on the visor. Plus..those things trash visors.

Here's my weekly contribution to the art of modding
Picked up a few homelinks and decided which would fit best. It required more modding of the map light holder (part in headliner that holds it.) than anything else. This one came out of a 98 Park Ave.

The posts that secure it needed to be added.

A hole for the buttons to stick through, the light to shine through when the button is pushed and a little buildup of material on the outer edge of the light to make it look right.

It's in, works great with my doors and looks pretty darn close to factory option.

Any thoughts?

Looks great, also I like it awhole lot in my car. No need for the garage door opener just program it and use the buttons in the car.

WOW! That looks very professional. I was convinced it was stock. Surprised me.

That's pretty cool Bill, you'll like using it. My 2000 has it oem and I love it! Beats the thing dangling on the keychain all the time. You might get a few orders for that set up!

Homelink is great! I've got to buy a transmitter for my condo U/G parking, then return it once the Aurora learns the signal.

Looks factory in your car Bill..well done.

Custom88 07-05-2006 12:43 AM

wow, I know it's been said many times but that really does look completely stock. Great job. :)

harofreak00 07-05-2006 03:46 AM

All? eeek...he showed me how to smooth one thing and then the paint process. He's the master of mods..I'll say that..yes I learned from him... but I've gone further on some stuff. ;)

No..I won't be adding LED's to my corners, etched or wheel well LED's. I'm lettting you guys do that stuff. I didn't run any wires really...that was a nice thing..it was all already in in the map light area.

Echo SSEI 07-05-2006 01:46 PM

Looks amazing....like a factory option! I never thought it would fit in there.

Now, where's mine?

95SLE 07-06-2006 09:06 PM

Nice Job Bill. The Homelink is one of the options I like best in my 04 Bonneville. I have both of my garage doors programmed in plus my parents garage door.

BOOM.... splatters of brain fly everywhere....

Now who's going to clean up this mess?

Thanks for the compliments guys.. That is one of the many things that I felt was missing from the pre 00 cars. B'villes are a high end car.. why no heated leather seats and why no Homelink? Some things don't add up.

I vote for the Alien to clean it up... it will take me too long to get there... Nice job as always on your ideas...

BTW, F*rds usually have their homelinks in the visors. Might be an alternative for those of you who don't have room elsewhere. I happen to know they are readily available in junkyards. Couldn't be too hard to install them, unless the voltage supply is different.
