GXP ready for winter

12 Attachment(s)
so we had a tiny bit of snow few days ago, and my tires suck! i had no traction whatsoever! i had hard time leaving the driveway br2
so i left the GXP at home and took the escalade instead, hauled the winter tires and rims in it and then gave it a quick wash, havent touched it in over a month lol

i snapped few pics of the truck after i washed it, not the best, i was freezing lol

and now to Bonnie

i was worried about the clearance, there quite a bit of room there
the rims look nice, everytime i walk out of my store i think im driving my brothers car for a second, it looks so much like a grand prix from the side lol

i also snapped one of the trunk panel with the leds on and a decent camera
the LEDs look much brighter. i'll snap some better ones when i get my T2i back

Love the new trunk panel. Something like that was in the plans for my trunk as well, but after choking down the bill for everything else I haven't gone back to finish it up.

I know what you mean about no traction as well. I've got a little extra in back to tow around and when the snow gets bad you have to drive with caution. The Bonneville does drive better than my Sierra though, even with weight in the back.

SAMzGXP 11-16-2010 11:30 PM

thanks! your trunk is amazing, im having some custom work going in soon but i cant find anyone to do it, but ofcourse not as fancy as yours

and as for the snow im not worried about it anymore, today i installed 17" rims and winter tires also studded, it drives much better than the escalade on snow lol
and the car rides so much smoother than before ahahahaa

ymmot04 11-16-2010 11:36 PM

I really should pick up a set of winter rims and snow tires. The highways down here can get pretty hairy in the winter if the plows don't get out in time (although I really can't complain compared to the snow you see :P). Plus I'd be saving the Chrome from the salt.

Also need to get my rear in gear and do some under body coating along with some of that rust converting paint Dan found. I've got a couple small spots starting to rust underneath that need to get nipped in the butt.

SpinEm_90 11-16-2010 11:42 PM

Nice Caddie! & why did you have to show pics of snow? I'm in denial that it's coming for me soon! It's like a horror movie...

OMG! Where do you live bcuz I never ever wanna live there lol this is making me miss living in Ocala...I would miss Pensacola but it got cold there & the crazy wind made it feel like needles were poking you

SAMzGXP 11-16-2010 11:52 PM

ahahahahaha
i live in Fort McMurray, Alberta
all the way up north, its get really cold in the winter, 4 years ago it hit -65 for 3 days straight. its crazy.. cleans the streets from junkies though lol jk

SpinEm_90 11-17-2010 12:09 AM

Holy crap....I would literally die up there. Its been in the 40s for highs lately & I'm like in torture lol I am not made for cold weather whatsoever genetically

SAMzGXP 11-17-2010 12:30 AM

No one is ahahaha
You get used to it, I'm from the middle east so I'm used to the hot weather
Just buy a canadagoose jacket and you're good too go lol

Oh wow are you really? Where are you from? Nahh I use to rescue Canada geese so yeah lol that won't work with me. I wear a cami, tank, regular shirt, "shirt" hoodie, regular hoodie, an oversize hoodie, and then my big dale earnhardt leather coat & I'm still cold in the winter. It's freaking ridiculous! It would help if I had some insulation but I'm not that desperate lol

SAMzGXP 11-17-2010 01:20 AM

I'm born in Canada, but parents originally from Lebanon. its really hot there comparing to canada
yeah a big hoodie and a leather coat wont do you any good here lol
its really cold, but again its only when you go outside right into your car, once you;re inside summer or winter you dont feel a difference

Yonkerse 11-17-2010 08:26 AM

Its AMAZING how much changing the rims changes the whole appearance of your car. I had to take a double take on the first few pics of your car. I really need to find some time to do some winter preventative maintenance on my car as well before the snow flies in the next couple weeks....

Lovin the car and Essy!

YoungGunLs1 11-17-2010 05:04 PM

I remember the days where I had to park my nice car for winter and bring out the winter car and snow tires.

No need to do that anymore! Although I don't have a nice car to park these days anyways..

BTW love the trunk panel..I want!!!

yeah i dont believe in parking cars for winter, if im gonna park my car for winter I'll barely get three months out of it in fort mc
when i sell my GXP, which is prolly after xmas, I am keeping my eyes open for a V Caddi, still havent decided between a CTS or STS
the HUD, keyless start/entery, & the SC are attarcting me the most to the STS
6 speed and the engine being an LS attarcts me to the CTS
regardless of which one i buy, i will be driving all year long

YoungGunLs1 11-17-2010 08:23 PM

Well if you want an LS series motor AND like a supercharger just get the new CTS-V, problem solved! ;)

Ohh gotcha. I've heard of Lebanon I think. Yeahh I don't think I could handle it. I was thinking about going to Alaska for college but no matter how much I wanted to go, I knew I couldn't handle the cold & that I'd hate it lol

SAMzGXP 11-17-2010 11:42 PM

Damn, I was hoping you'd visit me sometime soon :p

Lebanon does have old and rich culture, amazing architecture, and a fantastic climate, but I think its greatest contribution to my knowledge is its fantastic women. God bless Lebanon!

QFT
been there before? i try to go there once or twice every year for 4 weeks... i love it! summer time in Lebanon is like heaven on earth
and yes, we do have fantastic women lol, my fiance is from Lebanon, and shes there as we speak

radomirthegreat 11-18-2010 02:43 AM

Haven't been there, but I actually was thinking of a Middle East trip. You know with Sex and the City 2 out... No really, the Middle East is amazing since it's thriving with tourist-oriented buildings and services, and I really want to go there to look at the awesome architecture. Lebanon looks like a nice choice, and I'd like to make it out anywhere there next summer. I've got my fingers crossed!

well let me know, maybe ill be there ill show you around ahahahaa :thumbup2

Dubai is on my list, cant wait to go there

radomirthegreat 11-18-2010 12:29 PM

Sure thing, I'll keep it in mind. Maybe we can take our Bonnevilles there and do some high speed drifting!

SAMzGXP 11-18-2010 12:50 PM

Ive never seen any Bonneville's there before to be honest, matter fact barely any Pontiacs, few Chevys and Caddis thats all. So it would be nice.. but doubt you wanna swallow the price to take it there, well i didn't
when i bought the escalade i was thinking of taking the GXP there since it would be super unique and definitely a head turner, but i wasn't ready to spend almost 8 grand shipping it there

as for driving, that has to be the coolest part in Lebanon, sadly when it comes to driving no laws, no speed limit, no tickets, do whatever floats your boat.. I'll try posting a video of me pulling the ebrake in front of a cop while he standing on the sidewalk sending a text MSG ahahaha, and another one passing a cop doing 150+
