Front lip mod
My friend is really into Hyundai Tiburons, and he was over today so we could do this mod to his car, and he suggested that I try it on mine.
It's only about $20 in materials. The lip is actually garage door bottom from Home Depot... I think it came out beautifully, but what do you guys think? (Oh and yeah, I know it needs to be washed.) http://i856.photobucket.com/albums/a...arappa/lip.jpg This is the original Tiburon thread\version. http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=149878 |
Interesting. I'm curious to know the functionality for this add on. Cosmetic?
I'd hate to see what happens when you go over a parking curb. |
I wouldn't have even known that was a garage door bottom if you hadn't said so. Looks nice, adds a little bit of protection under there for steep driveways.
Easy and cool looking. It certainly will protect the lower nose valance against curbs, etc.
looks good! wonder if i can do that to the bottom of my 2000 bumper? i hate the curbs
It looks nice. How is it attached?

Looks great man |

It's probably a whole bunch of screws and washers...
I've seen a bunch of 5th Gen Monte Carlo's do that too. Attachment 24068 Attachment 24069 Attachment 24070 |
looks good! i think chin spoilers look awesome on mustangs so i was wondering how many other people were gonna start to do it to other cars =)
That isn't going anywhere unless it takes everything else with it.
see its weird for me to see u guys worrying about curbs bcuz i dont even think about watching out for them anymore much bcuz of the high sport kit on my monte, there are very very few curbs out that that i can clear with the front lip. but the owner before me obviously didnt watch out for curbs & bottoming out =(
The steep driveways and entrances in my home town tore up the front of my car. I've got some road rash on the bottom of the fogs. Then there are the co-pilots that like to tell you to turn when your in the intersection. "Oh yea, you need to turn herEEEEEEEEEEEEE" **Screeeeeech kshhhhh** "A little more warning next time... K??"
I'm surprised I still have an air dam on my car sometimes...
I rarely ever bottom out but I think it looks cool
oh yeah that air dam is horrible! its scares the crap outta me if i accidentally bottom out i can never tell if its just the air dam or the actual front lip. round here going from asphalt to gravel are the worse places
Thanks everyone I'm glad you like it! hehe
It's actually 3M outdoor double sided tape with zip ties every 6" or so... I think it's pretty secure... |
man that looks really cool, i might have to look into this.
Nice, looks like you did a good job on it. Make sure it is on there tight as hell! My mom's civic has a similar thing from the factory, and it's always falling off lol. But some screws in it should definitely do the trick.
We drove an hour of so to US27 Motorsports for the Quad and UTV dragraces and MudBogs. We had a blas but when we were leaving my girlfriend had to hit the only dirt mound in the whole field and messed up my valence and ripped my WHOLE exhaust off. From the catalytic converter to the exhaust tips! Got a Home Depot Remedy for that! LOL.
That is really cool! I'd try it. I guess if you didn't like it, you could just take it off. Only now you'd have lots of holes in your front bumper...

Nice mod. I know for a while people were using the front dams from Mach 1 mustangs. Bet they wish they would have thought of this first, lol.

I bottom out pretty frequently (ask me sometime how I "lost" my passenger side fog lamp or yanked most of the splash guard off the bottom), so this is definitely a mod I'll look into. |

Looks hot, and totally do-able without having to destroy something in the process (zip tie holes and double-stick tape residue hardly count, assuming you ever have to get rid of it).
