Default Night Shot

I was playing with the camera the other night and this came out. Thought it was kinda cool. The “stripes” in the background is a car (or two) going by. Yeah, the exposure is a little dark, but that'* what I was after in this picture.

very cool pic, it must have been pretty still also, the leaves in the background weren't moving either

Yeah, it was a very calm evening, nice temperature too. Beautiful night until the mosquitoes came out. We don’t have a lot of them out here, but about 20 minutes after this picture a gang of rogue mosquitoes tried to carry me off so I packed up my stuff and went inside. Then I taunted them through the window.

A tripod is a must have. Even a cheap one like I got. It’* the only way to get lightning shots – put the camera on a tripod, point it at the sky, hold the shutter open for a few seconds, and hope for a bolt!

Actually you should consider using the timer if your camera has one. Set it to 2 seconds. That way there is NO way for the camera to move when you take the picture. Even on a tripod you can move the camera slightly, which can make a picture less crisp than possible.
