Hey guys, I got hit on Wednesday. Not too serious, but needs both pass. side doors, and some repair to the rear quarter/inside the door jamb got wrinkled also.. Not my fault, lady was pulling out of her apartment complex on My right hand side, hit ice, and went into traffic(me!) lol. Im thinking they might total because it needs the obove parts, and its a 94 LeSabre. Which *&CKS, Ive put $1400.00 into since I put it on the road in september, including
Plugs & Wires
MAF
Brake Master Cylinder
EGR valve
(4) Firestone Winterforce tires(new obviously)
Kenwood CD player & 4gauge amp wiring kit(had my JL audio subs already and ghetto amp lol)

Heres a cell phone pic I took, doesnt look all that bad, but DOES look worse in person..

If they total im going to just try and find 2 Ruby Red doors to match my car(thats my factory paint color). Really bummed even though the car was my winter beater, it was mint. Not a dent or scratch on it. Interior is flawless and the car now has 114k on it.. AND im getting pretty good gas mielage out of it! Im still driving it but waiting for the adjuster/appraiser whatever to come out..

OH and I know the car looks filthy, its winter mode here in MA! No hubcaps, snow tires and plenty o salt n such on the car..

That sucks. Being a old car they may call it totalled.

Sorry to see that. OUCH! If her Ins. company totals, they take the car. And alot of them wont sell it back to you as salvage because of liability laws in some states. So check that aspect out well and get a clear picture of this as they estimate~underwrite the damage. Be aggressive. This was Your car and She messed it up.

im going to try my hardest so that they dont low-ball me.. KBB books the car in good Condintion at $1,600.00, NADA books it almost 3gs, which Sounds better lol. I see these Lesabre'* in poor shape w/ MUCH higher miles going for like 1800-2500 and thats for a pretty sh*tty one.. We'll see, insurance called me today and the guy should be coming out next week to look at it..

sorry to say your car will total, ive worked for the lkq corporation the largest group of auto recyclers in the country in our insurance call center doing estimate reviews for recycled parts for insurance companies the last nine years..the doors you need run from $250-300ea. if clean and rust free from us normaly we have a lifetime warranty for rust problems. im sure at some smaller salvage yards you may find the doors for less but for the year and the damage to your car its a total for sure.

I whole heartedly agree! My Bonnie was hit in the rear and was totaled. I argued with the insurance guy until he gave in and offered for me to purchase the car back. If they do total it. Which they may. See if they will let you buy the car back. Most of the time they will and you can get the car fixed and back on the road legally. After you get it fixed, to make sure that your title for the vehicle doesnt come back with that annoying "SALVAGE" written across it. Take it to your local Highway Patrol office to have the vehicle inspected. In Missouri, it costs 12 bucks and takes about 30 minutes. Alas, the title will say in small print, "prior salvage" But, the car is 100% street legal and with no hassle! Good luck and sorry to hear about your misfortune!

Well, i'm kind of p*ssed. Only because I think they ARE trying to screw me.. I got the quote todayThey said the NADA book price of the car is $3,025.00. In MA, if the damage exceeds more than Half of what the car is worth, then its considered "Totalled". Half of that would be 1,513.00. My quote to "repair" the car just so happens to a few dollars short of this amount! They said it would cost $1,458.12 to repair. Yup, $54.88 short from being "totalled"(which would get me a check of twice what they want to pay). Heres the rundown(labor seems VERY low price wise also)

So yah, I mean its an extra 1,400 in my pocket, but wouldnt YOU rather an extra 3g'*? I mean, its 55 bucks off from being totalled which would gain me 3k rather an 1,400....

Some input? Thanks guys..

If that really is just a winter beater, then don't worry about the dent. Take the money and run!
