Cleared corners and painted grill inserts.

So i finally bit the bullet and cleared the corners on my SSEi. The write-ups on here made it sound easy enough but the fact that i heard the headlight assemblies are $175 a piece still haunted me during the whole process. I'm really happy on the outcome, not to difficult of a task and with the darker gray paint they really stick out but not too much. I had actually painted the grill inserts silver a month back but the cleared corners really pulls it all together i think.

The last picture is of what i think might be a good idea but im not too terribly sure. when my headlight was out i noticed i had some water on top of my splash guard right where the cone filter for my Intense FWI sits. I noticed there were two quarter sized holes in the splash guard right where the filter resides. With winter coming i definately don't want all that foul road salt/slush mixture getting in there, so i cut up a milk jug and using some silicone RTV and a couple staples sealed those off for the winter. Ghetto? very much so but i think they'll do the job until something a bit cleaner can be rigged up come spring. There is still plenty of air getting in there and i have not seen any water pooling on top of the plugged holes, if so i can always drill a couple smaller hole nearby. Anyone else ever do anything like this before? pros, cons?

Thanks for any feedback, pardon the dirt if you can see it in the pics. She is due for a bath. And yes i know, now i have to do the rears too.

Looks great 8) I like the "fix" too. I don't see any reason why that won't work just how it is.

VERY nice!

BUT, take off the dealer plate borders, unless the dealer is paying you to have them on there. Otherwise it's free advertising for them. ;)

Last pic is the shield for the FWI with the holes blocked.

1) What is the last picture of? :?

under side of the car, splash gaurd, right under his FWI.

Good choice on doing that BTW, FWI suck in bad weather and when they get wet.

LOL, sorry guys, I replyed too soon and edited too late

Lol, you know they didn't bother me at all until you mentioned them. So here i am at 12 in the morning in my driveway with a screwdriver taking them off by the light from my cellphone. I've been sitting here bored anyways, and the dealer really never did anything to impress me that much in the first place.

CC's make all 2000+ look better. :2thumbup:

HAHAHAHA, sorry  . It's a pet peeve of mine. That is ALWAYS the 1st thing I do when I get a new vehicle  :D

Looks nice! I'm a fan of CC's anyway.

On the hole patching...Looks like it should work fine. I suggest keeping your eyes out for a couple rubber body access plugs, likely available at a parts store. Should be cheap enough and a cleaner fix.

Nice

Looks awesome! I espeically love the grill inserts. Both of mine are broken actually, anyone know where I could get replacements? :)

Thanks, I am from Aurora.

hugger10 10-31-2006 12:04 AM

wow thats like Charlotte's clone, if you put a "pontiac" banner the dna will match perfectly (and it would kinda freak me out ;) ) That fwi cover up is a GOOD idea and I'm going to copy you tomorrow on that one.

1994se 10-31-2006 12:17 AM

I've seen your car in your sig picture before and thought the same exact thing. Unfortunately Illinois requires a front plate so i can't run the Pontiac front piece where the plate is. They'll be even more similar once i get my Interceptor gauge and pick up an intense 3.4" MPS, Autolite 104's, plug wires, and highflow cat. I think im going to go with Flowmasters for the mufflers though. Unfortunately that all costs money I don't have right now.

dillcc 10-31-2006 12:24 AM

I see the addiction is really starting to take hold :D Props to you!

hugger10 10-31-2006 12:31 AM

Before you go with flowmaster listen to mine, it has twin magnaflow mufflers and has a noticeable but not overstated rumble to it. Its very throaty from idle up to around 2700 then it gets quieter(resonator). And when you hit around 50 or so and OD kicks in you can barely hear it. Its perfect for cruising and when you open it the exhaust takes a step back so you can listen to the sweet whine.  . I'm not trying to sell you on magnaflow but we have similar setups and you may or may not want your like this I'm just throwing it out for you to chew on.

ANd I dont have a hi-flo cat yet but I'm pretty sure it will make my nice rumble a little more throaty. Dont have the aeroforce gauge either but its on my list when summer rolls around and I take care of my hazing headlight problem.

Great job! Don't you just love the Silverstars? Now that you've done it...admit it... when you get out of the car and are walking away, you can't help but look back and admire it... 8)

hugger10 10-31-2006 04:50 PM

you do that too??! I though this car was driving me crazy or something.

hahaha. I'm also guilty of checking it out in the reflection of the car im behind at stop lights.

dillcc 10-31-2006 08:24 PM

I think we all do it. I probably look like a paranoid freak to people who watch me when I leave my car.
