As long as the paint wears off the usable rotor surface and doesn't cause any issues or fires, it "sounds" like a good way to keep it all painted w/o taping.

I never liked that idea as well, but anybody that has done so says it wears off
right away.

Exactly. I use to tape the surface. Most of that paint on the surface rotor is only over-spray. I only make sure to triple coat the hub area and edges. The paint wears off the contacted points of the rotor by the time it'* backed out of the driveway! I'm not a fan of painted rotor surfaces either, but it works and saves a lot of time taping! Remember guys that'* mostly over spray on those parts, the spray bomb is still aimed at the hub!

As you can see no harm done!

I appreciate everyone'* concerns though!

My only concern is what the pads look like, but I'd imagine any paint stuck to them would be gone in a hurry...

There is nothing bad about painting rotor surfaces. I first heard of it when I was a judge for some car shows. I painted mine when I changed my pads.

BTW, that license plate looks familiar
