sweeeeeet! 8)
you still looking for a 3800 for up front? i might be able to come up with something. |
we are pretty much stuck with looking for one locally within the state (IL) looking to get another LN3 or L27 etc for the front and hopefully the non electronic 440t4 or 4T60
We will be reusing the factory subframe and just welding in the mounts, the front has new struts so we would like to keep em. Though Al thinks it would be better to get the late model aluminum front subframe which I can do just a few mods to make it fit, and it would lighten the car up significantly. if you know of one out this was for dirt cheap we might go fer it... for right now we are focusing on the new rollcage and finishing allot of the cosmetics. |
i was talking about mine. i guess she gets to stay in the back yard for now :(
|
 I didnt realize it was yours...no chance for a road trip yet...and we want her ready fer the track asap! hope ya find a good home fer her...
 sux we dont have the time or $ to come relive you of your burden and let us keep her heart beating in our project...at least with my new Job Its going to be great working for a boss who's a fellow drag racer again....and Byron Dragway is less than 20 minutes away!!! take it easy...James |
Hairy Hurst
Hey, they built an olds somethin' or other in the late 60's with twin blown 455's....there were some sweet photo's of it. twin toronado set-ups, it was pretty sweet. must have sounded amazing. i've always wanted to do something like this, take an old prelude or somethin', put it on a chassis, twin 2.0's w/ autos or something....never got around to it though...way to go guys!

chadow, yeah I know of the Hurst "Hairy" oldsmobile a 66 olds 442 with twin blown 425 olds motors and toronado transaxles that used to smoke the tire down the whole quarter mile!
we are the sequel son of "Hairy" lol only our total Cu in displacment is 425 cu inches (6.9L) I will be turning my sisters (deceased) old 87 lebaron 2.2L Turbo I (hatchback!) car into a twin 2.2L Turbo car to have some fun of my own, but I have my Nova to play with as well as trying to get this 77 Olds Starfire (basically a Vega) to drop my Turbocharged 400 sbc into with a 5 spd manual and be able to drive on the street... yeah we are really happy with her so far! got some more stuff finished! WOOOOOooooo! GIT R DUN!!!!!!!!!!!! finished welding in the cage (I love TIG!!!) we welded it in as an 8 point without the halo bar and front down legs (go through dash and we dont have time to redo the whole dash! YET!) Boy doya want to talk about stiff! Got the 5 point harnesses installed! camlocks are so easy to buckle and unbuckle besides shattering the rear window taking it out (recomend not prying and using a sawzall to remove windows ) we have a new tinted one to replace that old weld spattered one...so no big deal just had to vacume up allot of glass lol  we drove her down to the local machine shop and met an engineer (PhD) who drove out just to look at the 442.... "well it looks like you guys built her to take a crash at 200mph!" from what he said that we could have gotten by with less steel (no one ever said overkill was bad eh?) but that the engineering was spot on...then we told him it was all by eye and with no blueprints etc. his eye's -> we did a few blasts down the local road and I did almost a 180* turn in her in a parking lot by just mashing the pedal and turning! that was fun!!!!!!!!!! need some bleach next time! boy is this car fun! gotta love the reactions "youve got two engines in there!?!"....like no one's ever heard of Hurst "Hairy" Oldsmobile....we are the sequel! "Son of Hairy" keep ya updated! James and Al and the 442.... |
