That was a nice car. I can't believe your going through with derbying it. You should have bought a beat up car to do that to.

I've been doing endurance races for 5 years now and the front wheel drive cars just dont last. Here is a pic of my car from last year which I will be racing this year also, 83 Lesabre. The car in the middle.

Ah, stock speakers! When you get the chance, please use a multimeter and tell me the ohms of the two voice coils of one of those speakers. Please. :D

You didn't show that giant rust spot on the interior in these shots. Put up that picture again to get more people to side with you. Will there be a video of the derby race?

redwingsfan34 05-07-2008 05:13 PM

why? why do that to such a nice car? I'm sure there are other crappy cars out their to smash. That looked to be like a nice car.

was their anything wrong w/ it?

I also am in some type of "enduro" races, we've got bump-n-runs up here...
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=81950 - we used a pos $200 cavy...

Bonneville92V688 05-07-2008 05:21 PM

Did you guys see his other pictures??? There were massive rot holes under the backseat, and I am assuming the subframe mount areas were just as bad. ;)

i find it very odd you saying front wheel drive cars don't last I've only done two of these races but I've talked to people who are way into it and they all say to stay away from rear wheel drive. little hondas are the cars that usually win where i race. last year i raced a 88 civic did about 100 laps before someone put me into the wall and my gas tank fell off.

put a 2.2" pulley on that thing and let it rip!!!!

willwren 05-07-2008 08:26 PM

Pulleying down wouldn't be wise. You need to be able to manage traction, not make it worse.

I'd personally pulley UP and let 'er rip.

Don't forget to put the stuff you pulled out up in the For Sale section. You might as well get some money out of what you're not gonna use.

BTW, pull your door, fender and rocker cladding. There's plenty of guys here who could use that stuff in good shape. And if you can run without bumper covers, those are hard items to find, and might fetch a few bucks towards your racing fuel bills...

EDIT, nevermind, I can see you've destroyed most of the parts that people would be looking for. You should have been more careful taking it apart, you could have made a good chunk of money off those interior pieces.

radomirthegreat 05-07-2008 10:08 PM

Is this a one-time racer? Do you think you'll keep it and race it again next time? I'd really like to see your mod list when you get it going.

lol @ "destroyed" Im not gentle, I saved a few things stereo, speakers, mirror. gotta keep bumper covers to hide any modifications. I promised my dad he could burn everything else.

Use a sawing motion with dental floss to take off the badges. They might sell nicely.

I hope to keep it. I doubt Ill find another one of these. Paid a bit more than my other enduro cars. Last two races cars were not worth keeping.

radomirthegreat 05-07-2008 11:49 PM

You should probably put in huge, bold letters that you want to keep this car. Since you're going for that race, some here might think that questionable mods that give you more performance but a shortened engine life. Time to open up a Performance & Brainstorming thread to see how far you can take this engine. Although it is sad that such a nice looking car (aside from the rust spot) is being torn down to this extent, I really am excited about the race. When is it?

i find an oil dipstick at the junkyard out of a random car works much better behind it ;)

95seand78z28 05-08-2008 05:52 AM

I'd be curious to see how well it holds up... 92 to 95 has plastic front fenders.

I'm not too worried about performance its only a 1/4 mile track and most people never go over 70. Race is in July.

ocelot44revolver 05-08-2008 08:41 PM

I sawed off the muffler today, its not that loud I think I liked the sound of the supercharger better. Anyways I got a problem, it wont go above 5500 rpm does anyone have or know step by step instructions on how to take off the rev limiter?

radomirthegreat 05-08-2008 10:53 PM

Please don't take off the rev limiter. I'm aware it's controlled by the PCM. Also, mine can go over 6000 rpm when in gear. Why do you need to rev so high?

Bonneville92V688 05-09-2008 12:07 AM

Don't take it beyond 5500rpms for any reason. The weight of the internals is simply too heavy, and will puke rods like no other if you tach it up past the redline.

ocelot44revolver 05-09-2008 09:05 PM

Heres smore pics. I tried to keep the drivers door mostly stock so I wouldnt have any sharp edges. Got the windows outta both back doors and got the sun roof out. I was wondering would that fetch any money? I kept the motor and all the wires.

willwren 05-09-2008 09:42 PM

You won't make any power above 5k anyway. So forget the limiter. This is a low-end torquer, not a high-end hp freak.

Cutting off the exhaust like that will kill your low-end torque, but that might actually help you manage traction on dirt.

harofreak00 05-09-2008 11:20 PM

kills me to see that trailer of parts... you obviously have no idea how much some of that stuff is worth to members here. you could have paid for the car!

pokey 05-10-2008 04:47 AM

I sure could use alot of the exterior parts off of that car, especially the taillights.

Makes me want to cry.

ocelot44revolver 05-20-2008 04:55 PM

Havn't been doing a ton of work cause its been raining and stuff. Got just about everything out of the inside. Heres a pic of that hole in the floor.
https://i27.tinypic.com/vxzx8n.jpg

Still got lots to do. Ill keep updating. Also putting some stuff in the for sale section and also listing it on craigslist.

J Wikoff 05-20-2008 05:01 PM

Yank the airbags.

ocelot44revolver 05-20-2008 05:28 PM

Driver side airbag was already removed, im not sure how to get the other one out.

J Wikoff 05-20-2008 07:26 PM

Allen bolts from the back side. Undo the battery first.

drive it into a tree. J/K Man, I hope you kick ass on the track. ever think about taking an f-body engine and trans to do a rear wheel conversion? I think a rwd bonnie would be sick and would help you slide around the track at faster speeds. just do your thing!

93-SSE 05-20-2008 07:29 PM

You definitely could have made some more money off it if you were a little more carefull pulling it off.

Good luck with everything though.

01BonneSC 05-20-2008 08:42 PM

:? I cant believe you are going to enduro this thing....you should make it a straight up strip car if you want to keep it for a while. I think its gonna get anihalated by an 83 Crown Vic....I say dont enduro it cause its a classier car than that. At least give it the respect of living the rest of its "life" in "one piece" so to speak. It wouldnt be the fastest car at the strip but it would be more times of fun that the 10 minutes that will last with fullsize 70s and 80s v-8 RWD cars smashing it to bits.....unless its a whole bunch of bonnevilles running into eachother( ) keep it on pavement, PLEASE!!!
