That is exactly what I would like to find, and especially the blue. Red would be my next choice.
Yeah Baby!!! Just looked at the video. I would build my '62 Tempest four (half of a 389) for it. I have a friend on Long Island with one in a '64 Le Mans convertible that is pushing right about 700 HP on 25 psi. He went from blow thru to EFI and he'* going to push it up to 30 PSI. That would make a 3rd Gen Roar. But I have to get the darn Catalina built before I can do anything like that. With the Pontiac 4 cylinder being a half of a V8 it will be easy to bolt that right into my Catalina using almost all of the equipment and motor plates etc from the V8. Then use just one turbo and one intercooler etc. Would be fun to see just how strong it could be.

not that it would matter much to you but everything would be custom, they had switched to chevy mounts and holes. the chevy crate engine was as easy as i have ever done just got the engine said v8 mount from a buddy that had one laying around, went down to the parts store and got the rubber side and there were already holes to put them in even being a 6 cylinder car. the trans though was a complete pain in the butt. there is the torque arm mount and a bunch of other things so i got a hurst conversion kit. it was terrible nothing fit, the thing hung way down so you could run exhaust, i had to buy a trans mount. after a few years of running open headers i made my own crossmember that you could use dual exhaust with. the biggest problem with these is the ground clearance. you can buy ones from spohn that do what i did or tube torque arm ones but they are 300-600 bucks, dont think so.

I was about to ask you what troubles you encountered with the TH400 install. With the Tempest 4 I would probably go with a built 4L60/700R. All the arm mounts would be there. The low first gear would also help with the soft bottom end of the 4 cylinder. But, if I could score one of the new 6L80'* like the one in my G8GT, then that would really work well. The 3rd Gen with the Tempest 4 would however be almost full time street. So running a T56 behind it could be an option. Since it would not be a daily driver, the manual trans may not be much of a bother in the city here. I doubt I'd put mote than 2000 miles per year on it.

all of the v8 auto thirdgens would come with a chevy v8 bolt pattern 700, the 6 ones have the weird 60 degree bolt pattern. so dont know if they have adapters to adapt a pontiac to a chev but i would imagine so. then you wouldnt have to mod anything behind the firewall.

a million people put t56s in them i guess clutches and bolt pattern would be a problem. the ls or LT engines they come on are a bit different and they make special aftermarket flywheel and stuff to adapt it to a pre 86 sbc, dont know if they would have that for old pontiac bolt pattern. i know thats one of the big negatives for me, just buying the weird flywheel is expensive let alone a decent t56, those are normally around 2k by itself. the 6l80 is real big from what i have heard and wouldnt fit well

Well, as you can see with my Catalina build, I'm not very opposed to cutting and pasting car panels, LOL. Once I were to settle on my combination, I would make it all fit. There are adaptors out there for the Chevy to Pontiac adaptation so that is not an issue. The Tempest 4 cylinder bell housing pattern is very similar to the BOP pattern "but", the bell housing bolt face/surface is 1/4 farther forward then the later BOP and Chevy surface (very similar to the LS motors compared to the early Chevies). The same was true on the 1960 389 block I used for the Catalina. I had to adapt a Chevy to Pontiac adaptor, (1/8th inch thick) and use an available Chevy and Pontiac pattern rear engine plate (1/8th inch thick) combined to 1/4 inch to adapt all of my transmissions to it. The 1955 to 1960 Pontiac V8 bell housing patterns are completely different (plus the shorter/father forward) housing face/surface then the later BOP patterns. Luckily, the old pattern top two bolt locations were the same so I could register the adaptor/engine plate off of that. Even the dowel locations do not match. So adapting the Tempest 4 to any GM tranny will be through the adaptors and plates as necessary.
I will admit that it will take some research and calls to make a T-56 match up with what ever combination I have in place but that is all part of this game. I know there are adaptor bell housings out there too, just not sure whose yet because when I saw them I was not actively seeking them. So I know they are out there, I just have to find them again. That is all part of the fun as long as the money is there to buy the stuff when it comes up. But time will tell. At my age I'm not even sure I can start another project (health and money) So I may have to complete the Catalina and just drive that around and be happy. LOL, ya never know.

pretty fun too. probably break stuff there for a while thats normally how it goes for a little while at least till you figure what is too weak for that engine.

I've been slacking off because of the heat. I have been pecking a way at things a little at a time. I'll catch you up on that stuff.
I tried working with the original dash but it turned out to be more of a hindrance than a help. So I removed the old "Purdy" chrome (heavy) dash and built a gauge panel frame welded to the steering wheel support. I ran angle aluminum stringers behind from side to side, and there will be two down below to attach the bottom of the dash to. This is the gauge panel with the 5 inch speedometer and one 2 5/8 gauge so far.

You can see the angle runners that I will tie all of the other dash panels to behind the projected panel. In the second pick you can see the Lokar swinging spoon gas pedal assembly. I tried to run two individual cables, one to each carb but the 90 degree curve required to make them work caused a real crappy notchy/grinding feeling as the cables slid inside the sheaths. So I'm still working on that. But I originally intended to just use the spoon throttle assembly by itself until I realized the original factory gas pedal worked great to actuate the spoon assembly. If you look at the second pic you can see the set up down there.

The trunk is pretty well laid out. Tank is mounted, gas filler is added on, the back outlet and a bottom outlet are all drilled and fittings are bolted in. With two outlets I have the option of pulling from the very bottom or the back bottom of the tank. The bottom one allows me to mount the pump under the trunk floor and the back bottom outlet allows me to mount the pump inside the trunk. The pump is a Magnafuel 500 with built in inlet filter and by pass regulator. -12 in and -12 out of the pump. I've made the tank outlets -16 with an adaptor down to the -12 at the pump so there is never any restriction feeding the pump. -12 all the way to the front regulator. -10 back to the tank. This is a shot of the trunk in all it'* packed glory. Tank in place, radiator in place, pump in place near radiator outlet, -23 water return line, -23 water supply to front. Room for battery/batteries. And return water fill T to catch bubbles in the line.

Pic of front water line cap fill T at firewall.
