I remember riding my first quad. It was also a 98 Honda Recon. Weird. I'm only 3 years older than you too.

We use our Massey to hay our field. The field hadn't been hayed in about 5 years so we bush hogged it twice last year (once begging of spring then again in fall) and we're gonna do the same this year. Hoping to start making hay next year. The only equipment we own is the tractor, the backhoe attachment, and a box blade for the road. We're borrowing the land owners bush hog, sickle cutter, rake, and baler. I know it looks small for baling hay, but the PTO has the right RPMs for it. It was bought on purpose that way. Big enough to do what we need, but not too big to get in the way.

Once I get my son more often he'll have a 50cc quad. Gotta get to where there is plenty of space though.

upsides and down. ive got 86 acres, but i have to mow alot more than id like and your not likely going to find a good job near where you can get property for reasonable amount. so i got a good drive to work. but most of the time its worth it.

some of the newer 50'* have remote ign kill that would have been nice when she was first learning to use the brakes. they get the helmet on and cant hear you yelling.
