I love it! Friends of mine have a dirt track in their backyard and races every Sunday during the summer. There'* even a "night race" for the 4th of July. There'* anywhere from 10-15 racers each week...some come over from Canada even.

I don't race there....but I did get the Most Agressive Driver award last summer at our mini-meet in Ontario (ONBF 07) Of course, those karts are slow and crappy compared to the real ones.

Great hobby!

ii know someone who does this as well, he claims the hardcore carts can go from 0-100 and back to 0 in less than 10 seconds.

I like the safety cage carts. A good friend of mine lost a son in a cart without a cage that ran into the back of a truck by accident.

Yea, some of them go pretty quick, but not that quick. We dont have a speometer on our karts, but most people say that our'* are hitting about 70 on the backstretch.

I was a little worried about getting into go-karts after all the years racing Quarter Midgets due to the lack of a roll cage, but in our first year, we only saw one cart get in the air, and the driver was just a little scratched up. They really dont roll over as much as you would think due to how wide they are.

Paul,
go-karts go pretty fast, this(i think) is a 125cc shifter kart, with a little taller gears it would hit 100mph faster than your car, as it is it would hit 60 or 70 faster than you.
