This is what got me interested in four door cars,
I needed a third car back in 1997 and came across a 1984 LTD with a 3.8L V6.. Same basic chassis as a Mustang/T-bird so I decided I would talk to the guy. A bit of barganing and $200 lighter I left with my LTD. Drove it for a year until I went over a speed bump and it just shut off. Figuring it was the ignition module.. I pulled it out.. LOL The engine that is. My friend had an automatic 88 Mustang 5.0 that looked like a pretzel he wanted to get rid of for $400. So after two cold winter months in my garage with frozen fingers, $600 in cars and $900 in assorted parts I had one "stock" LTD that ran a consistant 14.2 @ 98mph with 2.1 short time. I sold it to my friend when I moved to Florida then bought it back a year later.. Then about two years ago I sold it again I am still kicking myself.

The "Police Ineterceptor" decals I put on the valve covers always got me shocked looks when I opened the hood. Mods: 15 degrees of initial timing, Strut tower brace, KYB struts and shocks, Mustang 5.0 swaybars, 1.5inch equal length headers, an H-pipe/Dynomax mufflers, Moroso Cold air intake with a fender mounted filter, A/C and air pump delete, Auto Specialties under drive pullies, Mass air conversion kit, 3.73 Trac loc rear end, T-Bird Turbo Coupe front buckets and a few hours "tuning" the sensors with a volt meter.

For the track I had Hoosier Quick Times and Aluminum spare tire rims that came with Turbo Coupes mounted with the skinny old school VW Bug sized tires.

Oh yeah it was fun I could park it anywhere and never worried.. Took out those pesky ricers back in the day without cracking a sweat.. With the 3.73'* and the automatic it pulled hard in the 20-60 area. Shocked a lot of people when I nailed it from a roll. I tell you one thing... Over 90mph it got really light in the nose even to the point of spooking me a few times. No downforce.

It was Dan. Shame its been parted out and the shell sent to the scrap yard. I cant complain too much the parts went to use. I worked with the guy who bought it. He was in his mid 60'*. He transplanted the engine and transmission (with the fuel injection) right into a 1965 Ford Falcon. He loves it. Gets high 20'* for milage and he drives it every day to work. It was like a pay it forward kind of thing when I sold it since I knew what he was doing. He actually had the respect to ask if I minded and said he wouldnt buy it if I did. Really a good guy.

I like those old Falcons. I dated a girl that drove a 1964 Falcon. Nice car.
