Default Barn find.

So for the last two years a guy I work with has been telling me about his dad'* old pontiac in his barn and that he would cut me a deal on it. I finally went out to look and this is what I found. A 1968 pontiac lemans! The guys dad bought it new and drove it until 1984 when he parked it with 66k in this shed. It hasn't moved since then. He said that I could have it for 1800 bucks. It has the 265 horse 350 and other than having 25 years of dirt on it is in great condition. The motor still has antifreeze in it and I can turn it by hand. The frame and floors have no rust. I'm going to pull it out sunday and get some pics of it in the sun for the first time in 25 years.

Nice find! Check the wiring harness, hoses and belts real good for animal infestation before you try to start it. Mice and rats like to have a field day with them and you don't want anything to ground out or fall apart if you decide to crank it over.

Keep us posted on this!

Yeah the only problem is that the mice have eaten all the wiring under the hood but the good news is since it'* a non ac car they didn't get into the interior. Thank god theres not much wiring under the hood of a 68.

That'* to be expected under the circumstance of the storage and back yonder there wasn't much wiring at all. Should be much easier to repair or replace compared to today'* vehicles and maze of electrical wiring.

Awesome find and a breeze to rewire. Quite a dusty Jewell you found. If it was next door to me, I'd hit it. I would change the oil, pull the coil wire and crank the heck out of it several time'* without overheating the starter. Then take her for a long steady ride and dump the oil again. 68 was the year Pontiac switched the 326 for the 350. The late 60'* Pontiac HO 350 (It would have the 4 barrel) was an awesome engine that could take Chevy 350'* and base 396'*. If your into modding at all slipping a 69+ cam in it, will in itself pack some more giddyup.

I just did this same thing with my truck last summer only instead of 25 years it only sat for 8. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...w/P1010383.jpg

The first thing I thought when I saw this lemans was "GTO clone" but now I'm leaning more into keeping it original. Except of course for some tastefull upgradeds to the exhaust and motor.
