However, I'm back in the game as I just picked up an almost mint condition '92 Bonneville SE! The car only has 135K, has had only had two owners prior to me, and seems to have been kept up immaculately. It has, hands down, the cleanest interior I have ever seen in a car, and the body is perfect save a small (1/4 inch diameter) rust bubble over the rear wheel just behind the back pasenger door. Seems to run and drive great, rides smooth and has adequate acceleration. At first I thought I was gonna hate the color combination (White on Red,) but it'* really grown on me. I'm hoping to do some mods to the car at some point, the first being a spoiler, but as for any other exterior mods, I'm kind of at a loss, as I love the wheels, and everything else seems to look so nice the way it is. Any suggestions would be welcome.

The car does have one problem, the tranny fluid was a little low, so I added some lucas trans treatment to top it off, and now it'* whining a little bit. not loud at all and more of a hum than a whine (lower pitched), and seems to shift fine, but it definately wasn't there before the lucas. Is this just a coincidence or could there be something to it?

Anyway I'm glad to be back, and here'* a pic of the old gal, sorry just one, the digital camera died and needs a charge.

Nope, FE1, also, F17 gears, and L27 (obviously.) Any others I should look for?

Is this wise? I know for sure that it hasn't had any trans service for at least 75K, maybe never, I don't wanna (nor can I afford to) make it worse.

This is a very common misconception. At that mileage, that transmission is FINE. The best thing for any transmission is good fluid. It helps it stay cooler, shift smoother, etc, etc. I would suggest adding seafoam trans tune, drive it for about 50-100 miles, and then, if you can afford it, take it to have it flushed and have the filter changed. Otherwise, just drain the fluid, and change the filter, or drain the fluid twice, I always do that just to make sure I know its good.

So the transtune should be added, driven some then removed? or can I just get the flush and top it off with trans tune? Thanks for all the welcomes and responses, I'm gonna take some more pics later

Well I just went ahead and got the flush and filter, and it seems to shift better, but the hum is still there. While I was driving about 65, I actually put the car in Neutral, and the hum didn't lessen or go away, so now I'm not convinced it was the tranny humming anyway. Regardless it seems to drive good now, so I'm not worried. Anybody got a white spoiler they wanna sell?

Why don't you go ahead and start a thread in the 92-99 mechanical section regarding the "hum" issue?

I recommend you find out whether it does it while in park and then open the hood and try to get a better fix on where the sound is coming from.
