Default Rear Calipers on a 2004 Bonneville

Replacing the leaking rear calipers which I put on in April. Just wanting to verify that when you put on the calipers, you first pump the E Brake a few times to run the pistons out, right? I’m sure I did that in April and everything was good. I’ve tried 4 new/ reman calipers in the last 2 days and none of them want to ratchet out the pistons? I tried the old ones and they do. Am I getting to old for this? 😳
Thanks

Before the procedure below, I want to ask if you know that the emergency brake pedal and cable and anything related to them are good for super duper sure . . . ?

Then if they are:

First bleed all four corners thoroughly

Second, make sure you have a solid pedal and even braking action while driving normally

Third apply and release the emergency brake a handful of times, starting with a small application and progressing to applying all the way

Should be good at that point

If not, come back here and let us know what happened.

Sometimes on those I'll cycle the emergency brake arm on the caliper with a pair of pliers to get them started. Shouldn't have to, but it helps sometimes when circumstances are marginal.

I did get the brakes working today like they should. What I always thought was to cycle the emergency brake first to ratchet the pistons out to get contact with the pads slightly. Maybe I should have done the bleeding first? I did get a left and a right caliper to ratchet the pistons out after trying several calipers from the parts store, they just would not work the pistons out no matter how many times I moved the lever back and forth with a pliers ,cable unhooked. Two finally worked to do that, then I bled them and everything was fine. Emergency brake worked good too.
Thanks
