2019 Silverado torque Converter
Torque converter went out at 70k. Vehicle was struggling to accelerate and would jump and chug when accelerating. Transmission was fine but it’* still costing me 4K with parts at labor at the dealership. This is so unacceptable and I’ve read so many threads of this happening. Why is GM not addresssing this and helping folks out? The general population cannot afford something like this.
Yeah, that kind of torque converter failure that early is definitely frustrating, especially when it leads to drivability issues like shuddering and poor acceleration. The reality is manufacturers like GM usually only step in for widespread issues through technical service bulletins or recalls when there’* a clear safety defect or extremely high failure rate tied to a specific batch or design flaw. If it’* outside warranty and hasn’t been classified that way, owners often get stuck with the repair cost even if it feels like a known problem in online forums. At 70k, it’* unfortunately right in that gray area where failures can happen but aren’t always covered.
