Default 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 6.2L uses oil

Since about my second year of ownership my truck has been using oil. GM says that they will only do something about it if I use 1 quart in 1,000 miles. I get my oil changed and have it checked at 1,000 miles and I have use about 3/4 of a quart - so I don't meet their minimum. Anyone else have this problem. Any suggestions as to what to do. A truck this new and expensive should not be using oil.

1000 miles and 1 quart is the industry standard.
Any leaks?

No leaks. 82,000 miles currently, but started probably around 30K. Just came from the dealership and a new bulletin came out in October that changed it to 1 quart in 2K miles, so I might have a chance now.

I had them do an oil consumption check and I do qualify for the new 1 quart in 2,000 miles - so the dealership is going to help me submit to GM.

They can submit it but it will be rejected.

I am hoping that since we have records, going back to 40,000 when it started, I will have a leg to stand on.

Unless it shows a quart in under 1000 miles it will be rejected. Did you pester the dealer? He may have just wanted to get relief.

I had this same issue but in a Toyota and in a mustang. After 2 mechanics checked the engine they could not find anything. I changed to a rugged/tougher oil and it didn't eliminate the problem but it did cut down on dumping 1-quart of oil every few weeks into the engine which was a major hassle. Doesn't hurt to give it a try...I found a link for your 6.2 sierra if you want to try it out, up to you.
