Default Windshield Wiper Relay

1997 Bonneville SE 3.8L naturally aspirated. Would someone tell me if this car has a wiper relay? The wipers function properly except they will not shut off unless I turn off the ignition and restart the engine. My search of this forum did not turn up anything.

Thanks,
Russell

Likely the park is not working. If that is it the wiper motor needs replacing.

I was hoping to start with the least expensive and work my way up from there, but perhaps going to the most likely is best. Thanks

Yeah, I agree. I haven't run into this on my 1997 LeSabre, but I have on many older GMs with hidden blades. I've done a kit for rebuilding the mechanism (between the motor and arm) a couple of times, but I don't know if that'* even available any more. For very slightly more you can find the whole thing so it'* really not worth messing with just to have an old motor waiting to fail.

I'm a lot like my car, parts are starting to fail!

Default Wipers will not turn off

Update on my wiper issue. I replaced the wiper motor with a new on, not rebuilt but this didn't have any affect. They work fine and "occasionally" they'll shut down and park on their own, however; a couple of times they could only be started with the high setting but once going all the setting worked. If anyone has more suggestions please pass them on. I don't know if the ECM has any control over them or just the switch. From what I could find on some internet searches the replacement of the switch is quite involved. I'm hesitant to do anything around the air bags.

Thanks,
Russell

That sounds like wiring to or the connector of the resistor module. Try wiggling if you can get to it easy enough.

Carfixer007, I'm not familiar with a resistor module. I know what a resistor is but not the resistor module you're mentioning. Where is this?

This is what it is. Should be at the motor.

The link to Rock Auto opened in the A/C category but I dug around in the electrical and wiper connector and switch section and got a good idea of what I'll be looking for.
Thanks for your response to my post, maybe this will get me a little closer to solving my wiper issue.
