Default 2005 GTO SRS reset

Had seats replaced and installer did not disconnect battery before unplugging airbag sensor on seats. Air bag light is on when car is started. Don’t want to pay $200 to have dealer erase the code. Almost certain code will not return as I have examined the connectors under seat and there is no damaged to either of them. Was told the only way to reset is to get a Tech2 diagnostic tool with additional GTO module($$$) as they are made in Australia. Anyone know of another trick or bypass that works. Have trued all the disconnect battery and wait 15 min, repeat 3 times with car off/on, etc. no luck yet.

First off, did these seats even come with airbags? If not, your Airbag controller will need to be re-programmed with the no seat option. If that'* even possible. Which I speculate it is not.

Default Pretensioner likely was disconnected

Pretensioner was disconnected While battery was connected. Bad description on my part. Any who…. Airbag light comes on with beep when started and message displayed in message center. Was told had to be reset with Dealer Tech2. They even require a special module for GTO’* to be reset. This occurred immediately after seats were taken out and reupholstered. Just asking for any suggestions on how to reset light. Not how to repair as there should not be anything to repair. If resetting for some reason did not work (light came back, etc). Then I’ll start diagnosing from there or just bite the bullet and take to dealer.

So the seat chassis is original, just been recovered?

Then take to dealer, pay the one hour diag/hookup fee for them to clear the faults, But tell them to print the DTC list FIRST, then clear. If the light stays on, then you have a working DTC list to go on.

seats are %100 original, they were removed to re-upholster the leather as they have a common issue with the stitching coming loose around bolsters.

I have a good OBD2 scanner Innova 5610 that will list all DTC codes but will not erase the SRS code for the GTO. It does see other GM models. INNOVA support gave me an update that supposedly would allow it to see(and erase) the SRS code (that’* another post)

the question was and still is:

“ Is there another tool or trick that can be used to erase the SRS code?”

Paying for dealer to simply erase code is kind of overkill. But, if it has to be done, I’ll bite the bullet and pay the man. Was hoping someone on this forum knew of a way or tool that could do this.

You didn't get the update? If you are thinking you can get it cleared for nothing you will need a friend with a tool that will work or you will have to pay something. Software or the proper tool would be best bet.

Whoever pulled the connection without first disconnecting the battery should be responsible, or at least go 50/50.

Regarding clearing without the right tool: No, I've never heard of a way to clear an airbag code like: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start

You may have compromised the module and need to replace it.

No, no, no, no. It'* Yellow, Red, Green, Green, Yellow, Red, Green.

If you have a few hundred, I mean this could be considered a long term investment... but the Actron CP9680 does airbag systems.
But if you want to put some serious money down and have bi-directional control..,.Snap On Zeus.
