Default Steering position sensor discontinued

I have a new body style 2007 Silverado. Steering sensor has gone out and I can't seem to find a replacement. I understand it has been superseded 3-4 times but overall they all have been discontinued as well as the aftermarket replacements. As I understand they can't be reused because they will be spun out of place after being removed leading to me needing a new unit. Has anybody had any luck finding a replacement or something that will work?

sensor in the truck now is a 6 prong 15112675

This is duplicate to https://www.gmforum.com/gmc-chevrole...8/#post1643271

Please don't post duplicate posts for the same issue.

In the thread with the other duplicate, the other duplicate bumped a 26-month-old thread so that thread was closed.

Since this is a fresh thread for the same issue it'* staying open. I'll just move it from "Chevrolet" to "GMC/Chevrolet Truck/SUV".

Okay, all caught up now.

Ill have to try the 8 pin and see what happens. Also was wondering how to reclock an old sensor if I got one from a part truck. The way I understand is when I take it off another truck it wouldn't be lined up to go on my truck. I remember seeing somebody link a video on how to do it but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Does anybody happen to have the wire diagrams for the steering sensor? wanting to compare the leads from a 2007-08 model and a 2010-13 to see what the different in the 2 wires added when they went to 8 wires. I have installed the 8 pin on my 2007 which originally had the 6 pin and everything seems to be working. no lights or codes and clicked right in.

Thumbs up

Solved the problem. I got access to the wire diagrams for both a 2007 with the 6 pin and the 2012 with the 8 pin. Wires 7 and 8 on the 2012 are dead wires coming from the trucks harness. Because of this there is no reason you can't use the 8 pin model sensors as the input is the same and the only different in the sensors is the 2 extra dead pins. I ordered the GM part number 19418403 off amazon for $50 and threw it in the truck and it fixed everything. You can get this sensor at almost every auto part store but I found it at amazon for the cheapest. So for everybody trying to find a 6 pin sensor you can use the newer part and its the same deal. While GM changed to a 8 pin model for later years the sensor is the same just with 2 dead pins.
