'01 Pontiac grand prix w/3.1
I agree with carfixer007 ^^^^^^^
. . . but for a simple and incomplete summary list:
Remove the following:
- Probably have some stuff to remove before you can get to anything below
- Belt
- Crank pulley
- Power steering pump
- Water pump
- Alternator
- A/C compressor
- Idler pulley
- Tensioner
- Timing cover
- Probably some wiring
- Probably some sensors
- Probably some other stuff
- Timing chain cover
- I probably forgot some other stuff
Now you can get to the timing chain.
As far as "How to replace", this is a much more complex question to answer. A manual will be the best bet for you here.
If you have done this kind of stuff before, then you'll already have a good feel for whether or not you are up to this without a manual. If not, then definitely start with a manual first. Maybe check out some Youtube videos on it as well.

Yes a factory shop manual would be best for your 3.1. Dealer might let you copy sections? I bought my used factory books from ebay
What is happening with ALLDATA ? I thought they had a personal one car manual available for $39 ? Maybe call them at 1 -(800) 859-3282
