So I just got done debadging my truck and while the removed lettering came out looking great, the long strips of chrome on the bottom of the door are showing scratches.
At first I thought they were from me accidentally riding my drill along the truck, but the scratches are too uniform and consistent. I’ve come to the conclusion that they are most likely from the sawing motion from the fishing line I used to get the chrome strips off.
I’m both surprised and angered now because I was super meticulous about everything and made sure to be gentle and to take my time. The scratches are small and pretty hard to see from a distance, but once your eyes catch them, they’re so noticeable, especially when the truck is cleaned.
99% of people will probably never notice them and it looks good from a distance, but it will always be in the back of my mind that my paint is jacked up on the truck I bought two months ago. I’m now extremely regretting pulling the badges off. Is there anyway to buff these out? Or is re-painting going to be my only option. Pics attached

You didn't use the appropriate method to remove it. You never want to slide anything underneath it.
You can rub that out. Look on youtube.

Huh, I’ve used this method on 3 other vehicles and the paint always came out perfect with no damage. Thank you very much for your quick input, I’m feeling much better knowing I may be able to clean this mess up myself.

What tool did you use to remove it?

25lb fishing line to remove emblems, 3M eraser wheel to remove adhesive, Goo-Gone to remove leftover adhesive and clean up

I can't tell in the images, is that nicks in the paint?

Yes, they’re more comparable to rock chips than scratches. You can actually feel the the scratches when you run your finger over them, which worries me that I may have gone past the clear coat. I was extremely careful to not let the 3M wheel get my paint too hot, and I was using my hand as a buffer between my drill and my door to prevent dents and scratches.

I think that it’* from me working my fishing line up in down against my paint. What puzzles me is why did all the lettering on my doors/tailgate come out great while my chrome moldings look awful? I guess I’m going to have to go to a body shop and pray they can buff most of the nicks out.
