Default 2004 GMC Envoy XUV

I am having issues with my SUV, I cant seem to open the back tailgate, it wont swing open, or drop open, I am just wondering if the touchpad could be faulty, or a fuse (if there is one, where?) or do I need to break down and take it in to dealership.

sounds like more of a mechanical issue, probably have to take the covers off and see what the mechanism is doing

Remove the touch pad and try touching the two wires to each other.

Any vehicle that has a touch pad to open the liftgate also has some sort of mechanical way to open it as well (in case the battery is dead). For your vehicle the process is as follows:

Emergency Release for Opening
Liftgate
1. Remove the trim plug to expose the access hole in
the trim panel. The access hole is located on the
inside of the liftgate.
2. Use a tool to reach through the access hole in the
trim panel.
3. Pry the left release lever up to the unlock position.
Pry the right release lever up to unlatch the liftgate.

4. Reattach the trim plug.

Smile My new Envoy has some "warts" - need solutions

Hi,
I too am a newbie to this site. I just purchased a 2004 Envoy XUV SLT model with loads of goodies, but some problems as well;
Main one -- cannot get midgate glass to go down. Hear motor running but glass does not move! Dealer says $85.00 to just look at it, and up to $400 to fix, if
it is motor or module.
Right backup light missing lens. Ordered new one on eBay, it came and is bigger than current one in the truck! The replacement is a complete light assembly,
but has to go in from the front, and does not fit! Anybody know where to get one with just the clear lens, not the combo red top/clear bottom one that is on line?
Third, when picking up the car tried to open the glovebox and latch came out in my hand! Dealer said he will get me a replacement N/C, but I need to know,
what about the lock? Can you change that so my current key will work it?
Lastly, ordered a clear bug screen for the front, as I have done 3 times in the past, from Lund Industries. It came, I painted it to match the truck, went to install it,
and it does not fit! It is wider than the truck, and none of the mounting holes line up! I have made inquiry at Lund and the selling dealer, but no answers back yet.
Last problem -- my son discovered after we got it home, that the inner right wheel well cover is missing-- not even there! My wrencher says probably broke with a tire blow-out, but I need to replace it! Anybody have one that will fit ?I

I hope that is all ----- for today and for the future.
