Question 3 Stage Sunroof install

Has anyone installed an aftermarket electric sunroof into a bonneville that didnt have one? Or got a sunroof out of the jy and installed into a non sunroof bonneville?

I don't remember seeing any write ups on the forum about that. If you end up doing it, post pictures of the process.

that would be quite involved, you would have to really want one. take most of the interior apart to do the tubes, cut the roof off of the donor and yours weld it back, repaint your car......

There are trim shops in most cities that will install an aftermarket sunroof, so it is definitely possible. They have the proper equipment and experience though.

Yea i know of a few shops, far as cut and welding i dont think that much is needed. Shops ive been to want $1200 to install...youre jus cutting the hole in, installing trim and sunroof...i believe.

A few concerns:

- Sunroof vehicles often have the roof bows installed in different positions than non-sunroof vehicles. You may find your sunroof location is interfering with a roof bow, and you don't want to cut that.

- The trickiest part is cutting the opening. If you distort the edge at all the sunroof assembly won't sit properly and won't seal.

- You have to modify the headliner. Easy to cut the opening but how do you finish the edges so it doesn't look ghetto?
