Well the other day all of a sudden I have started having problems with my transmission shifting. It will not shift out of 2nd. I ran it to the local autoparts place and they said it was showing a code for the Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch. I have never heard of this, and would like to know what it is and where exactly it is located. I have another transmission from a donor car and could easily replace it, if I only knew where to start.

The code would help, but I believe you have a pressure control solenoid code. That'* in side the side trans pan on the valve body.

I don't remember what the code number was, but he showed me the reader and it said Transmission Fluid Pressure switch. You wouldn't believe the gawd aweful time I am having locating a diagram or any real assistance lol. Do you know of any diagrams or pictures of what this piece looks like?

Sorry for the double post as I see no edit button, but I forgot to mention it did throw a check engine light.

Ok thank you. I unplugged the battery for a while and hooked it back up. Since then it has started shifting again, this happened before but after 20 miles or so the computer I guess reset it self and it stopped shifting.

Here we are with the side cover off. The side cover itself is a big pain because it requires the drivetrain to be lowered and subframe removed.

Thanks Bill, I forgot to do this last night. I've changed a few of the PCS. And it'* really easy. But as Bill said, getting to it is a bit of a pan. Remove sub frame, lower trans I believe 4 or 5 inches. The pan can then come off. The solenoid is right there, unplug it. Take a hook and pull out the clip. Twist the solenoid back and forth while pulling it out. Put some trans fluid on the O ring of the new solenoid and wiggle it in. Put the clip back in, plug it and put the pan back on. That'* about it. Figure a good 6 hours if you have not done it before.

Odd thing I forgot to comment on.

PCS failing won't usually keep you stuck in second. I'm kinda wondering if you are stuck in 3rd and blew a fuse?

If it'* slipping like mad that is very possible. I also believe cruise control is on that fuse. It'* a simple test. Just check for battery voltage on pin E of the plug going in to the transmission.
