Default 98 Malibu coolant leak

Hey all, the girl has a 98 malibu, and its leaking coolant super fast. Apparently her low coolant light was on for days before she brought the issue up...reservoir was bone dry. I fill it up, just with water(i know, especially in the heat, but it was an emergency thing), and about 20, 25 miles of driving, the thing is dry again. I have her pop hood and I can see that behind the motor, looks like a coolant elbow, not just a hose, but it'* hoseclamped and its pouring water out of there. It'* dark, obviously, so didn't get to take hose clamp off to see if the hose/elbow is completely rotting out or if its just a hose clamp needs tightened...but just wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about?

Lots of steam from engine that i'm almost certain is just the water boiling as it sizzles onto the manifold.

I haven't been back there on one of those yet. But GM did like to use plastic nipples in the heads that tended to deteriorate over a 100K miles or so and needed to be replaced.

Best of luck and please share what you find.

Sounds like the heater hose. Had one of those here a while back. It'* a bit tight back there but over all not a real hard job to fix it.
