Default 1999 cavalier fuel pressure

My son has a '99 cavalier 2.2 & it died. It turns over but won't start. Have spark. I can hear the fuel pump run. I replaced the fuel filter & when I had it loose on one side I bumped the starter had gas came out. I don't know if the pressure is correct but I don't see a way to connect a fuel pressure gauge.Has new plugs. After trying to start many times I found no gas on the plugs. Fuel pump? regulator? Something else?

Sounds like the injectors are not sending fuel. Check the fuel injector fuse.

I checked the ignition & PCM fuses. Don't see one for injectors. Just found out they have been having problems getting it to start. i think it may be the fuel pump. Anyone know how to do test on cavalier?

There isn't a shraeder valve on the 2.2l. You have to "T" into the feed line to check for pressure.

Is there a tool to use to disconnect the fuel line? What is the best way to do this?

Not sure what kind you have on there. But if it'* a metal bell like thing that pushes on to the fuel line then ya. You need a tool for that. They sell them at places like autozone. And they really don't cost a lot. Perhaps $5 or $6.

Got a fuel pressure kit from work. Had to connect at fuel filter. At key on I have 42psi. I think this is within spec-correct me if I'm wrong. I have a slight leak at the filter-I hate those plastic clips! Not sure where to go from here. Ignition? Theft system?

I still think your injectors are not firing. You said you checked for spark and have it. And you have fuel pressure, but the plugs are dry. So this is what I see. Fuel pump works, filter is not plugged, and there is no problem with the ignition system. That leaves the injectors. So what can cause the injectors to not work? Injector fuse, or possibly a pass key/VATs. Have you tried a different key? And I would go over the fuses again.

Unfortunatly they only have one key. I'll check the injectors tomorrow. Is there a way to test for pass/key problems?

I'm not familiar with the system on that car. But if it'* anything like in the Bonneville you can test resistance of the chip, that'* if you have a chip on the key. Then bypass that by putting resisters in place. Do you have any security lights flashing or on?
