L67 Hot Rod engine and Removal
It'* been a while since I have been on and you guys have always given great information
I am the original owner (special order) of a 1996 SE SLC SC l67 3800. It has been great these past 14 years and 186K miles. But just the other day it died on the freeway and I couldn't start it. It appears to be the Crank Position Sensor. This was the only "major" item besides, tires, oil, brakes, and water pumps that has gone out. I am getting it fixed now.
I have a few questions. This is a rare car according to Pontiac only 367 produced with the SC in the SE body style but the Wisconsin winters have eaten away the body.
1. I would like to remove the engine when I put her to rest. How do I do that, the conventional way from up and out of the hood or do I have to drop it from the bottom, not sure?
2. Has anyone every put the engine with a Turbo 350 in a hot rod/kit car? I like the RWD with the front engine combo. But the rear breathing intake and throttle body would have it against the firewall. Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks

On question no.1, dropping the front sub frame I would think would be the best bet at getting everything out in one shot. I don't know if the tranny will fit thru the top still connected to the engine

Yes, you can pull the engine from the top. Here'* a write up on doing that. https://www.gmforum.com/t285073/ I'm still working on illustrating it more, but this should help.
