I was beginning the process of replacing the fuel pump. I removed the fuel pump relay and tried to start the car to relieve the pressure in the fuel line. The starter just clicked, no crank. I cant imagine that removing the fuel pump relay affected the starter, or could it? Or is it just coincidence that the started went bad right then?

The starter should crank, the engine will catch and run for a few seconds and then die. Even after the engine runs out of fuel and won't start again, the starter will still crank. Did you disturb anything else in the electical box under the rear seat when you pulled the fuel pump relay? Check for out of position, or burned out fuses.

Most important of all, please put the year and model of your car in your signature line so we can better answer your questions.

Only thing I can think of if the battery drained because some electrical.

Try this, Turn on your lights. Now Crank. If the lights go OUT while you're cranking you don't have enough power...

Ok so I replaced the starter. Still just the characteristic "click" like the starter is bad. I took the old starter to the parts store and it tested good but they said it seemed weak, so i kept the new starter. Thinking then maybe the problem was with the battery I jump started it. It started, so I was thinking a bad or discharged battery. Drove around for a while and went to a meeting. After the meeting its back to the same thing, "click" and no crank, no start. Tried to jump it again, no luck. Just the "click" of the starter engaging but the engine wont budge.

So I have a new starter, battery less than 3 months old that seems strong. The starter clicks but the engine does not crank. Jumping it doesn't help. Any suggestions?

Bad battery cables. They can corroded inside and cause a lot of resistance.
