Default Bonne driver in western PA

I used to own a Bonne a few years back. It had blew up, via the infamous intake manifold issue. I've missed it ever since.

Recently another of our vehicles died. We're a single income family with my wife going for her masters degree a half hour away, and I commute an hour in the opposite direction for work. We live with my parents and we are on a t i g h t budget.

So when I came across this '97 SE with 130k miles on Craigslist, I got excited. He wanted 1400, and there was no rust, as it came from Maryland. If any of you are from this neck of the woods, then you know it'* hard to find a vehicle that runs for less than 2k that isn't rotting out hardcore.

The intake manifold had already been replaced at 100k. Other than some minor front end damage from someone backing into it, it'* in pretty good shape for a 97.

I have had one problem with it though, that I only found out after driving it on my 1 hour commute. It seems to have a TC Solenoid issue. At least that'* what I gather from reading on the threads. A friend of the family is a GM certified mechanic, and we're hoping to get things squared away with it soon.

So, now I have a list of things I would like to do to this car, but I'm afraid since I'm using it for a daily commuter, it wouldn't be worth putting the work into it. I guess I might have to wait till the wife graduates and I could get a later model Bonne with low miles, and make it into my dream car =)

Welcome to the Bonneville Forum Rick. It'* nice to see someone that shares our passion for Bonnevilles. If you need information over and above what you find in searching the threads, don't hesitate to start a thread in the 1992 to 1999 forum. Please add the year and model to your signature line (User CP at the top of this page, Edit Signature in the menu on the left of the page that opens) to help us better answer your questions.

Judging by your picture you look like a pretty shy guy, so don't be afraid to speak up.

:Welcome

Nice car, and a great price. We've had a big run on new 97s all of a sudden. What can I say, best year there is.

Thanks for the greets! Would have been back sooner, but getting over a chest cold.

I live in Meadville, but commute to Sharon for work.

I'll be starting a thread there soon, I'm having what I think is a TCC/Solenoid problem.
