Default ignition timing on 97 ssei at idle

Here we go i wanted to know what is the ignition timing supposed to be at idle? I checked with my scantool and i got -20 degrees.the reason i am asking is because my girlfriends stock 97 ssei with cai has more torque on the low end than my 01 regal gs and will out run my car .

here are the specs that i got from my scantool
97 ssei

load pct% 2.0
short term fuel trim -1.6
long term fuel trim 3.1
map 9.5
rpm 850
sparkadv -20
iat 90 degrees
maf 0.720
coolant 162

01 regal gs
load pct% 2.0
coolant 160
short term fuel trim -3.1
long term fuel trim 9.4
map 9.5
rpm 700
spark adv 20 degrees
iat 70
tp% 0.0

let me know if you guys see something funny here i cannot figure out why this big car is so fast.

This is a scan I did on my 97. It shows timing and everything else you may want.

Did you remove the U bend in the exhaust where the rear O2 is on your Regal? Huge restriction that the Bonnie doesn't have. Another possible factor is the motor mounts on the Bonne are much better placed for holding the motor in place. This may give the feeling of more torque. The other differences would probably be programming.

Oh..and if you drive yours hard all the time and she doesn't, the pcm will yank timing from you quicker since it knows your pattern. Torque management is probably not your friend.

on the regal doesn't the LTFT compared to STFT look a little odd being way off? i'm no tuning expert but would he be running richer because of beating on the car?

Fuel trims don't really come into play from the idle perspective. Just like sure they both share the same timing at idle (ps, I like that you listed the - same way the 97 b'ville shows it on a tool), but timing at wot and certain RPM'* is what should be compared.

Part of my theory is that his car is seeing less timing due to the pcm knowing his style of driving. Not that I'd have known this from personal experience and my pcm.. lol

Is it possible to turn the torque management off?
