looking to replace my stock fuel filter with a larger one... what should I be looking for?

why are you looking at doing that? I have never heard of anyone on this forum running a different size fuel filter, even some of the quickest cars around here.

Anything larger won't even fit unless you modify the lines to accept it.

lol I worked at many of the stations around here....... I want a larger filter to hold more rust and crap coming outta that nasty nozzle! its not a performance thing just don't wanna change it all the time... I'm kinda anal about my filters

sounds like you should be replacing fuel lines instead of swapping in a larger filter.

Maybe drop the tank and check for rust in the bottom?

im not worried about rust in the tank, more like the crap coming outta the actual gas well. My old manager says she is still selling winter mix..... not to mention the tanks are over 60 years old. Its not a big deal, just trying to be proactive, I want to replace it before she goes on the road.

I thought you meant = I worked at many service stations around here and saw many problems with fuel systems.

You said = rust and crap coming outta that nasty nozzle!
I thought you meant = rust and crap coming outta the end of your fuel line at the filter

Now, I suggest finding a new gas station!

If it'* the stuff from the storage tanks you're worried about, you can reduce the amount of crap getting sucked up from it and blown into your fuel cell by never filling up while you see the tanker resupplying the station, and waiting for a couple of hours afterward before you proceed to do so. Whatever sediment that is disturbed within the station tank will have plenty of time to settle after having been disturbed by the introduction of new product.
Or, just do what my man haro says, and find a new station.
Outside of that, you can make sure that you replace the in-line filter as recommended by service, or even more often if you're particularly concerned about your supply - from what I understand, the replacement isn't too bad on your year.

I'm not sure about the quality control in your area, but industry standards are pretty much universal for the larger chains. This includes a very good filter at the pump which will stop any contamination from getting into your tank.

That said, I still won't buy gas from older stations unless I know that they have replaced the tanks in the last 5 years.
