Now that I have a bitchin tranny, I need to get every bit of power I can squeeze out of this engine! My gearhead uncle said that a larger cam w/new lifters and springs would be the way to go next. He likes the idea of the small nos kit as the icing on the cake. The guys at transmissioncenter.net suggested that Comp Cams could get me the parts I need. (a larger cam w/new lifters and springs) Will this be a bolt on mod with no need for change in the ecm or is this going to be the point where I contact gmtuners and give them the specs on all my mods and let them work their magic.

CompCams will only STOCK your lifters. Not pushrods, springs, or a cam. You'll have to figure out through math what springs you think you'll need, and specify a custom cam grind through them (and provide a core to create it from). In basic terms, they don't support the LN3 engine you have.

On the link above ^^^^^^^^^^ the top 4 cams would suit you (call or email for verification). However, going more extreme than the 6071562 is going to cost you dearly in exhaust and head work.

It depends on the lift and duration you want. If you don't know how to spec a cam, work with someone that does, or buy a pre-ground cam off the shelf (like crow).

You can also use software to do it. Desktop Dyno works well for this. You can input your stock cam, show your torque and hp curves, then change the cam specs and watch your 'dyno' change. It'* a simulator. But again, you have to know what your engine was designed for, and how that hp and tq will affect performance and shift points as you change them.

It'* not rocket science, but it'* pretty involved, too.

Looking at the crowcam page to referred me to the lift next to the 6071561 says 440" in the lifter column. That is the size lifter I will need and springs to match? The only other thing I plan to do to the engine is clean the exhaust ports and possibly a performance cat, so I don't want to go with the other cams that require the head work and headers.

Crowcams zapped me back and said that they are having trouble shipping to the US and referred me to their sister company ZZPerformance. Waiting to here back frm them.

ZZP doesn't carry the cams. They only carry the 1.8 rockers for the newer S1 heads, which you don't have.

With any Series 1, custom grind is pretty much your only option. Crow won't ship to North America for less than 600 bucks a cam now and I don't think anybody else makes anything off the shelf. You can have a company do a custom grind for you. Colt Cams in Canada is doing mine.
