That depends on your desired effect.

In a climate like Florida where freezing isn't a large issue, you may want to bypass the radiator cooler completely.

In my situation in New England..I want a little preheating in the winter. Therefore I took off the top radiator tube and ran that to the cooler, then the cooler to the top of the radiator and back out the bottom radiator tube to the transmission. In the winter..the radiator will still heat the trans fluid a bit.

so youre cooling the oil before it goes in the rad .i need to heat up in winter here in montreal it get cold sometime so before the rad is a better idea thank bill

If you have not yet purchased a cooler, consider this one. I have the smaller version and I was pleased with the quality of the components and with the complete mounting hardware provided. I also like the fact that the design automatically limits flow (with no thermostat or valve) when the fluid is cold for those of us in colder climes. I only wish I had purchased this one instead of the $40 model.

mine is small i found that in my stuff its new but been laying in boxes for years but i think its better than none is a borg and warner

My Tru-Cool is A little smaller than the one in the link, but seems to be working well. Couple of times I have had my scanner on it, the temps looked really good. Mine is after the rad, as installed by Redline in Toronto.

Now I can't connect to the link here but the one I put on mine was from advanced auto and fits perfectly in the grill area of my 2000 SSEi. It is also after the radiator because my purpose was for pulling a heavy trailer thru the monutians and help reduce heat. I have pulled alot of u-hauls since then and I can say I think the cooler has been the savor of my tranny.

It won't really matter with a transcool, they're not going to flow until the fluid get up to temp anyways. It might flow a little sooner on the return line thou.

In your case I would put it in and bypass the radiator.
