Me and a friend talking about tubro charges and inter coolers, and both can't see why you can not inter cool a NA motor, but would it help, I am mainly asking because I have a small inter cooler from a project fit great in wheel well area.. Am I right or would it be worth a try?
I'd say, but have no research to defend my case, that it could help, if it can be made free flowing enough to not be a restriction in the system. I say this on one scenario it could be effective. The intercooler in question is a water to air setup that has a tank which you could put ice in(for racing). This would only be of any use in an extremely hot climate. Even in those conditions, it'* no guarantee, but in my own little mind, it'd work.
Your biggest task would seem to be finding a place to sandwich the intercooler plate into the intake system somewhere.

DEI makes a universal co2 "intercooler". Its a co2 bottle connected to a small teardrop shaped insert. you put it in your intake tube, its been proven not to restrict the flow of air much but it gets super cold in turn cooling the intake charge.

It probably would not be worth the effort. A SC or turbo car have need for using an intercooler the compression of the air is what generates the heat, N/A cars don't have that, their air intake temps will usually be near ambient temps. Also the biggest reason is that the SC or Turbo are pushing the air into the engine, so the air is forced through IC, where as an N/A car will have to suck through the IC and the rest of the intake system, the more restrictions the less power, and the cooling of the air probably won't be enough to justify the possible gains if there are any. You could try it to just be different but I don't think it would be worth the effort.
If you want to try it the best idea would be to put the filter directly on one end of the IC and run the piping straight to the TB.

Without using C02 or something like that to cool it, it doesn't make any sense to intercool an N/A setup. An intercooler uses ambient air temps too cool down your compressed air charge. So using ambient air to cool down ambient air obviously isn't going to do anything. With forced induction the intake temps are way higher once it has been compressed, so you can use outside air to cool it with. So unless your using something colder than outside air to cool it, it would definately be useless. Even cooling it with c02 or something I dont imagine it doing a whole lot.
