Well I just realized that last year when I did my plugs I didn't gap them, the people at the parts store told me that they were pre gapped and to not worry about it. THIS time I found out differently. the TR55s are NOT gapped at .060, they're usually gapped anywhere between .048 and .053 is what i found. So, for the past year, my car has been running on plugs gapped at the previously mentioned gaps, not matching, not to spec. So what exactly can happen from not gapping properly? I am now having a starting problem, so I'm doing the plugs today GAPPED PROPERLY to see if that solves it.

So yeah, whats the deal? and what can non matching gaps do?!

Odd...all the NGK'* I have ever bought had the sleeve over the end to ensure the .060 didn't get bumped in transit.

Overall... I wouldn't worry..gap them properly and move on.

Well I just changed my plugs, all the old ones were gapped between .052-.055 so they were definitely off.

A smaller gap will give you a less powerful spark. I don't think that 52-55 is enough variation from 60 to cause a problem, but I am not an expert on that.

if your still n/a its not that big of a deal if you were boosted though that would be a diffrent story

I noticed my TR55s weren't gapped at .060 too. I don't remember what they were at, but I had to gap them a bit larger.

Well I can say that I think that was my starting problem, because it hasn't happened since. Although it might have been that I let the computer reset, but also the plugs are all now evenly gapped and it also has a new o2. It definitely was not idling as smooth as it is now. Response is quicker, it feels much more peppy, starts faster, and idles a little slower and smoother.

I could swear all the TR55'* I've seen have come from the factory with a gap of .055" :?

Boost, I have never seen these sleeves you speak of. I have also never found a perfect set of pregapped plugs....

he means the cardboard cylinders that cover the threads and plug ground, they're in every plug box i've ever seen
