Default FWI incognito

I recently purchased most of the FWI kit from corvettecrazy on the forum. It had everything except a tray for the computer. After toying with different ways to mount the PCM, I reverted back to the most obvious- in the stock location. Since I had previously gutted my airbox, the job was that much easier.

One half attached to throttle body and into the airbox

Second half in the rest of the airbox and in the fender

Cut out the snout on the aibox lid

Done

In theory, this should help shield the hose from some heat and perhaps keep the air a bit cooler. It also keeps my PCM safe. I'm pleased with the results. A little more growl and a bit more go.

Looks great but one thought.....
Since the FWI fills in the hole that used to supply the box and inturn keep the computer cool, woulldnt the computer now get extremely hot. Mine gets hot out in the open. Is that heat from the computer or just heat transfer from the heat of the motor?

Does look good though. If the questions are answered I may do the same

I'm glad ya'll like it.

2000boostedbonnie: The computer doesn't run very warm at all. And, it can run just fine in a hot environment. Granted, with any electronic device, more heat means a shorter lifespan. But I have yet to hear of guys haveing problems with PCMs, and there are many running them out in the open like you are. My 2¢

Thanks for the response. Tonight I actually cut the top off of the PCM holder and I am going to mount it that way. I should have just bought the tray but what the hey I was bored. Sanded down the palstic where the dremel mounted and I painted it to match the rest of the engine bay even though it will barely be seen
