Just wondering where to buy some pistons for my motor,
took the pan off to inspect the bearings and noticed that they wore pretty bad, after measurement,
so im doing a rebuild
any help would be great thanks

Order them from your local auto parts store. Just tell them you need pistons for a 92-95 Bonneville, Vin code 1.

Very straightforward. No surprises. Just like any other rebuild.

a FSM or a Chilton might be handy also if you don't have that already.

already have a fsm cant seem to locate pistons, do i have to specify coated or will they know that */c pistons are coated on top??

If you order SC pistons, they will be coated.

Series 1 L27 piston is 12537200. Supercharged Series 1 piston is 24502091.

This is true for 91-93 L67. 94/95 uses 24503974.
I'm assuming the change is to have the coating extend down the skirt like the S2 L67 pistons do. But this is just an assumption.

Another option you might consider is hypereutectic pistons. They're quite a bit lighter, but are also quite a bit more expensive. I would suggest only using these pistons with lighter rods, H-type erhaps.

Use these if you're going for power. If you're just doing a rebuild for a daily driver, stick with OEM.

The OEM pistons are "Hypereutectic"..High Silicon cast aluminum alloy. Only upgrade would be going to forged pistons. Diamond being the only one off-the-shelf maker of forged 3800 pistons. JE and others will do them as a custom order, but at a very expensive price.

The least expensive pistons are Sealed Power (Dana) replacement pistons, available in overbores, and they are coated like the GM stock pistons.
