Default water in oil?

well hello everyone, hey I have a 1994 bonneville 3.8 standard engine non super.and I had water mixing in the oil, thought that it was my upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, did the change on them and lo and behold after draining oil from crankcase, refilling with fresh oil,and then the coolant change and refill, there was oil and water mixed again.everything was torqued to specs,so i was told it could be that the head gaskets were most likely bad,but as i let the car run to warm up,I heard a noise that sounded like old pullies moving about then a slight knock and then the car shut itself off, ilet it cool down and it started right back up,then cut off again, but when i went to start it up a third time,it sounded as if something had tightened up somewhere in or on the motor, could that have been with the water and oil mixing it could possibly have gotten around my pistons and acted like a seizing agent, where oil shouldve been instead of the water? thanks a bunch

Pull all of the spark plugs, and see if the engine will turn over then. Check for coolant being pumped out of the plug holes. The engine may have become hydro-locked due to coolant in the cylinders.

Did the engine seriously over-heat at some time? Head gaskets are virtually unheard of failing in these engines.

Yeah..what the M&N said. The symptoms you describe appear to be a spun bearing though. This would occur with extrememly low oil pressure.

Mike1995 has a good thread going on spun bearings.
