My wife just called me & told me the exhaust just fell while she was driving. Luckily my son works nearby. He removed the bolts holding on the muffler. He told me that the "resonator" separated from the catalytic converter. Is what he'* talking about a resonator? How is it supposed to be attached to the converter? are there any gaskets involved? Last, but not least, are the only exhaust hangers the two on each side of the muffler & the o rings up at the cat? Please let me know what I'm getting myself into when I get home. Its a 1994 SE by the way.
Joe....
Sorry to hear. I would almost bet that the exhaust broke behind the catalytic and right in front of the o ring hangers about midway down the car. It'* pipe inside of pipe with a weld on the outside. If it'* in decent shape, just have it rewelded.
Otherwise.. yes there'* a resonator after the o ring hangers, then the piping curves a bit and into the muffler. Hanger on both sides to hold the muffler.

It'* actually amazing. Works good. I'd suggest unbolting the muffler and lowering the o ring holder part (all of 15 minutes for both) and then you'll be able to get at the top of the pipe where it cracked. (Sounds like I've seen this huh?..lol)
