Ok, heres the deal. I was driving home today when I noticed that my headlights werent working. I figured maybe just my low beams had gone out and I could switch to high until I could get to a parts store. Well, turns out they didnt work either so I turn on my fog lights and drove it to Autozone. I figured it was a fuse so i bought a pack of fuses and a tester but turns out that doesnt seem to be it either.

Also, the blue "high beam" light on the dash doesnt come on when I flip the switch, but my turn signals, park and brake lights all work. On the fuse panel it does mention there are other fuses under the right sound dampener but I have no idea what that is. Can anyone shed some light on what the sound dampener is and what could be causing my lights to not work? :(

BTW, its a 93 model

The sound dampener is the bottom side of the dash. Black plastic.

IIRC, the headlamps are protected by a circuit breaker, not a fuse. However, I do not have any information on where you may find that breaker.

Well, I found a fuse box on the driver side, but it says there is one on the right side sound dampener. Can you explain a little more where I could find this?

Doing this in my head...

Passenger side, slide the seat all the way back.
Remove two bolts where the colored dash part touches the black plastic.
Remove two nuts where the black plastic touches the firewall.
drop the black plastic down, then slide it towards the back of the car.
Get your head under the dash.
Look up and towards the passenger side of the car.

There'* a bolt/nut I missed somewhere. None of this requires substantial force so don't go cranking on things.

Dame is on the money.. that fuse/relay area is mounted on the passenger side behind the dash, directly in front of the passenger front door.

Could it be caused by the pull switch/dimmer? I have had problems with it dimming the gauge lighting in the past and thought that maybe it had something to do with it. I just find it odd that I dont even get the dash "high beam" symbol when i switch them back and forth

It could be caused by many things. The lowest cost method would be to follow power from the battery to switch. That will tell you which component is bad.

What model do you have? SE/SSE/SSEi

Its an SE model. I spoke to the folks @ autozone and they claim that the switch is bad but they dont carry it and suggested I try a junkyard. I think thats going to be my next move

Bummer..I've got an SSEi switch here. I'm not sure if it'll work in an SE.
